I am looking to check and see if by the stamp on

The engine number is worthless. The frame number is the key. If your bike is 1980 or so, pray that it has 17 alpha numeric digits in the number. Les than 17 and finding the information requested is pretty hard. If it does have 17 digits, go to this website http://www.motoverse.com/tools/vin/kawasaki.asp tombones49_296.gif

How do you adjust the clutch and cable on 1980

Is that the EN 450? If so I happen to have a factory service manual for that.
Go to the right hand side of the crankcase and loosen both adjuster nuts on the cable so it moves freely in the bracket.
Loosen the cables locknut at the lever and turn the adjuster bolt so there is about 5-6mm of thread showing between the locknut and the head of the adjuster bolt.
Now go back down to the crankcase and pull on the cable housing towards the front of the bike and tighten the front adjuster nut against the bracket. Then tighten the rear nut.
Now go back to the lever and adjust the cable so there is about a 2-3mm gap of freeplay between the lever and its bracket. Then tighten the locknut againts the levers bracket.

Basic tune up. May need the carbs cleaned, new plugs/wires, and ignition system gone over, including points cleaning/replacement (if equipped) and checking for proper operation of alternator charge coil and rectifier/regulator.

Ensure battery is properly charged.

I have an overheating problem on my 1980 kz 1300 i

The thermostat will only cause overheating if is not opening - or not opening at the correct temperature. Before replacing it, you may want to rule out some of the other possible causes of overheating: Bent or otherwise obstructed radiator cooling fins, contaminated or insufficient coolant, clogged radiator, incorrect temp gauge reading, inoperative cooling fan, defective radiator cap, etc.
Check the above things, then ask yourself: Does it overheat when riding at highway speeds, or just in slow riding conditions? Is it really overheating? Coolant temps that exceed about 250F is cause for concern. Coolant temperatures which do not exceed 250F while negotiating stop-and-go traffic on a hot summer day are quite acceptable.
If all else appears in good working order, remove the thermostat and place it in a pot of water, over the stove. With a thermometer handy to measure the water temperature, begin heating. You should be able to see the thermostat begin to open by the time the water gets up to 185F - and it should be fully open at 210F. If it fails this basic test, replace it.

Only one lightbulb lights when lights are on. two

you have a live wire for each tail light and brake light and a single earth usually black.swap the bulbs if problem moves you have a dodgy bulb from new.if still the same side faulty then you have a bad connection very common clean with emery cloth .if no better check the wires are clean and tight a gentle wiggle can expose a bad wire. finally buy a volt meter and check for a 12v supply on all the live bulb feeds in side the bulb sockets.
