Download manuals for free
Believe it or not you may still be able to get a copy from Kawasaki.
It will be $20 or so, Got one for my '78 kz 1000 a long time ago.
Better than the Clymer book by far, info in it that you will not find easily anywhere else. Just my 2 cents....
How do I place the
Putting duct tape on the frame and being very careful usually works. You may need to use solvent (gasoline) to remove bits of glue after removing the tape, but the tape has always worked well for me. I am not aware of any videos. Please rate my solution. Thanks.
No spark at plugs. power is getting to the coils.
Remove the wires from the coils and check for continuity. Also check that the coils have continuity between the +/- poles.
If either of those checks fail, replace the failed part. If both pass, replace your plugs.
Bike in boxes completely taken apart need a manual
Check eBay and Amazon for a service manual for your bike. If you can't find one there in a reasonable length of time place a Want It Now ad on eBay. They are free and if anyone offers one for sale you will be notified. If you still haven't found one check your local library and your local dealer. The dealer might still have one floating around and probably does not work on many 1973 Z-1's. Also look for a Z-1 club on the web and post a ad there. If you can't find one look for a new aftermarket manual on Amazon.
Im not sure of the model
It's an H-1 or an H-2...... 2 stroke screamer...should be some #s stamped on the motor...keep lookin...if you can bottom one of the pistons and pour approx 250 cc of oil in the cylinder you have a 750 motor , if it only holds approx 166 cc of fluid then you have the 500 model....Good luck to you friend......Tim
I need to find bolt pattern and torque specs on
The rubber end caps on this model have a history of having a problem. When you install them use a thin coating of high temperature RTV silicone. After assembly of the cover (with a new gasket, sealant only on the front "ear" and rear "ear" that is in line with the cam chain) make sure the motorcycle is allowed to set for about 12 hours to allow the silicone it set up.
The bolt pattern for tightening is from the centermost inside bolt tighten the four closest to the center of the engine then the four outside the center most position of the engine (on each side of the "ears") then the two outer ones on each leg, inner one first, then the ones that go through the rubber end caps. Torque spec is 104 inchpounds. Remember that the four longer bolts go through the rubber end caps. All others should be the same size.
Hole sealing
JB will do it temporarly. Make shure the buyer know of the problem.you can it get it done by an aluminum welder for cheap. friend had it done for like 20 bucks at a local car shop with an experienced aluminum welder. seems like thatw s a deal as i was estimated at 50 for a job. but better then a 600 dollar casing, or putting jb on it
Paint protection
the 3M protective film works really well, I have it on the nose of my GTI. It will add some sheen, but I highly reccomend it
