I am pretty sure that if the flywheel was cracked, you would be suffering severe problems not a ticking.
It is probably a cam follower or a transmission problem.
Get a long screwdriver, handle end up against your ear and the metal point can be used to hear where the ticking is coming from.

generally high gear is when your clutch is most stressed so you're looking at replacing them. It's not too difficult just time consuming. Be sure your clutch cable isn't binding and adjusted right, you may have some adjustment left to temporarily help.

If the oild seal dried out and got worn, it will leak. On my 1965 Harley, I had the same issue. Turned out to be the needle bearing was worn, the play let the seal wear and oil. New bearing and oil seal cured mine.
