Abs light reset

ABS - Anti-Lock Braking System And EBD -Electronic Brake-force Distribution In Plain English Posted by: Rohit Khurana March 1, 2010 in Automobile Technology AdvertisementCarBlogIndia Technology Articles , today I will talk of one of the most talked about safety feature called the ABS And EBD. Again I will try to keep the language simple and human understandable (which non-engineers can also make some sense of), pun intended. What Is ABS ? Anti-Lock braking System system or ABS is a safety system which prevents the wheels on a moving vehicle from locking up(or cease while rotating) while braking. ABS offers improved vehicle control over dry and especially slippery surfaces by reducing the braking distance but it can also increase the braking distance in case of loose surfaces like snow, gravel etc. Ever since the invention of ABS, it has been evolving and the recent systems not only prevent wheel locking but also electronically control the front-to-rear brake bias, which we know as Electronic brake force system, Traction control system, Emergency brake assist or Electronic stability control. Working Of ABS Advertisement When brakes are applied under heavy loads, the braking pressure becomes high resulting in heavy braking or in other words locking up of wheels. The ABS overcomes this by monitoring the wheel speed and releases pressure on each wheel brake lines in the form of rapid pulses switching between different brake lines. which prevent locking-up. Preventing lock-up under heavy braking helps the driver in maintaining control over the vehicle. In modern ABS an individual brake line is provided for each of the four wheel enabling different braking pressures for different road surfaces of the wheels. What Is EBD ? Electronic brake- force distribution system also called as Electronic brake-force limitation is an automobile brake technology that automatically varies the amount of force applied to each of a vehicle's brakes, based on road conditions, speed, loading, etc. EBD system is always coupled with anti-lock brake-force system. The most important function of EBD is to maintain vehicular control with variation in braking pressure applied to each wheel in order to maximize stopping power. Generally most of the weight of all vehicles is carried by the front end so the EBD ensures less braking pressure at the rear end to avoid skidding. But in some EBD's the distribution of braking pressure at the rear end is more initially when the brakes are applied before the effects of weight transfer comes into play. Working of EBD system An EBD is a subsystem of the abs and its function is to control the effective adhesion utilization by the rear wheels. this definition has been given by SAE in its technical paper no. #920646. Advertisement The Antilock brake force system releases pressure in different brake lines at the time of heavy braking to prevent locking-up. The action comes in the form of releasing pressure from the braking circuit when it detects extreme and rapid deceleration in any of the four wheels in order to make sure that the driver maintains control over the steering during panic or emergency braking. For example if the wheels of a vehicle are on snow as well as asphalt then in case of emergency braking the ABS will monitor the speeds and eventually the EBD system will release less pressure for wheels on snow and more pressure for wheels on asphalt to prevent wheel lock-up abs-light-reset-jserdy1edku5qfscwskpevsm-4-0.jpg abs-light-reset-jserdy1edku5qfscwskpevsm-4-2.jpg

4 stroke engine.has not been run for a few years. when running smoke comes from the exhaust

These bikes are famous for this. The horizontal mounting if the cylinders allows for oil to seep past the rings. The longer the bike stays on the sidestand, the more oil will pass by. Also, you stated the bike has not run for years, the rings are possibly stuck in the groves, or the cylinder walls may be corroded. If possible, keep the bike on the centerstand, and allow the engine to warm up completely. Then change the oil and ride the bike for a while. I think you will see an improvement as you rev the engine through the gears, and the rings re-seat to the cylinder walls. You may want to change the plugs also, as they may have fouled from the oil. Good luck, and safe riding.

Bike wont start when it gets below 60 degrees if its been sitting for a few hours. i go to start it and it tries to turn over, but battery eventually dies. sometimes, if i go to start it a few minutes

First thing you need to do is check the battery. State of charge, disharge, charging. Find a friend or shop with a charging system analyzer,or use a volt/ohm meter.

I have a problem with my K100. The speedometer

I believe that the odometer is driven from the speedometer within the instrument cluster.

I would suggest talking to and or sending the entire instrument cluster to Palo Alto Speedometer for repairs.

K100rt turns over and will not run

"The fuel sensor tells the EFI unit if there is no fuel and shuts the engine down". you have 4 wires to the tank. Power, Ground and in your case, two outputs to the warning lights
later bikes have 4 as well but only one to the low fuel warning light
and one ( yellow) which can be connected to a gauge.
In either case the power and ground wires supply the pump.
Perhaps the problem isnt the sender, but the supply to the pump?
Connect the fuel pump directly instead of connecting it through sensor then check.the fuel pump directly through the reservoir cap, eliminating possible bad connections in the fuel sensor. --------------- Also check the throttle position switch. The throttle position switch a black connector on LH side at rear of fuel rail.If it sends a 'closed' signal to the efi then no fuel is injected. So check the switch. ---------- Also the next step would be to test the water temperature sensor. If it is shorted , the bike WILL NOT start. The easiest is to unplug the EFI computer and measure the resistance between pin #10 of the plug and the ground.
Here is the values you should read. When the engine is cold (water between 20 and 30 degrees), the resistance should not be under 1.5 k?.-------------
Do you get at least +12v at the injectors?
- Set up your multimeter for 12 volt DC
- Unplug the electrical connector of one injector.
- put the positive wire of your multimeter to the connection fed by the Green/red wire.
- touch the engine with the other wire of your multimeter (need to be a good ground)
- Turn ON the ignition and crank the engine.
You should read 12v.If no 12 volt then replace the injectors coil.-----------

Thanks. Keep updated for any more query. You can rate this solution and show your appreciation

Subject: 1985 K100 RT. Has

Plugged fuel filter is most likely.
The tank did not get a puncture, but rusted through.
That means it is full of rusty water.
Take the tank back off, flush it, consider having it coated, replace the fuel filter, and see what happens.
You could then put a fuel pressure gauge on it to see if the pump is going bad. The fact it idles implies the electronics are ok, just restricted gas flow probably.

Fuse for the headlights for 650 BMW 2008

On a 2008 BMW 650i, the fuse for the headlights is located in the fuse box under the hood. The specific fuse you need is Fuse #61, which is a 20-amp fuse located in the third row of fuses from the top. To access the fuse box, open the hood and locate the black plastic cover on the right side of the engine bay. There should be a diagram on the underside of the cover showing the layout of the fuses. Once you've found the correct fuse, you can use a fuse puller or a pair of needle-nose pliers to remove it from the fuse box. It's always a good idea to check the owner's manual for your specific vehicle to get the most accurate and up-to-date information on the location and function of the various fuses.
