With all of the micro chips out there now you could have shorted one out when you spilled the gas on it any switches that were in the area also. AI would pull a plug wire of and put a plastic handled screw driver in and hold it close (about 1/4 inch away from the frame on engine then hit the starter and see if you see any spark if you do then you have and other problem no fuel most likely.Good luck [email protected]

I had this problem last month and it turned out to be the starter motor cable had disconected from the relay. The clicking noise is the relay clicking in but the starter motor not initiating. the cause could be as simple as the cable disconnected but most likely it is your starter motor has gone. Hope this helps.

1. • 1 Park your RSV 1000R on a well-ventilated, level area, using its kickstand.
   • 2 Start the engine and let it idle in place until the temperature gauge built into the instrument cluster indicates a minimum internal temperature of 180 degrees Fahrenheit. This is the motorcycle's ideal operating temperature.
   • 3 Take note of the engine idle speed, using the tachometer needle, while the engine is running. Ideally, the engine should idle steadily at 1,250 rpm.
   • 4 Adjust the engine idle speed to 1,250 rpm, using the idle adjuster screw hidden between the lower right edge of the fuel tank and the upper edge of the right middle fairing panel. Turn the idle adjuster screw clockwise to increase the engine idle speed, or counterclockwise to decrease the engine idle speed, using a small flat screwdriver if your RSV 1000R's frame (VIN number) precedes ZD4MEE009YS000292. A plastic knob allows the engine idle speed to adjusted by hand on RSV 1000R models with a frame (VIN) numbers starting from ZD4MEE009YS000293.
   • 5 Rev the engine two to three times and observe the tachometer. The engine should return to a 1,250 rpm idle. Adjust the engine idle speed as needed, using the method described, then rev the engine again. Problems may exist within the throttle control, fuel-injection system or engine, if the engine idle speed will not hold steady at 1,250 rpm. Contact your local Aprilia service facility for assistance.
   • 6 Stop the engine, once you have obtained a steady 1,250 rpm idle speed.

there aint one m8 i have the same bike same year and no petrol gauge only earlier rs had them they swapped it for a sidestand switch

Hi i have a problem with my bike it is an 2001 aprilia rs 125cc. When i press the ignition button i hear a clicking noise coming from what i think is the starter relay? ( located at the front of my bike, behind the radiator ) and the starter motor wont spin or even try to crank the engine. i have also tried 2 bump / jump start the bike but still no start :( i think the battery is fine though as the lights work when ignition is on. can any1 help me with this problem? any suggestions and help appreciated thanks :)

are cables clean n tite--starter relay cud be bad--is batt @12.6v-its a coil ignition and a little lower causes hard startin--u need a clymer manual for troublshoot each area of bike

Not familiar with Aprilia but have 40 years on 2 and 4 stroke engines. Start with removing the exhaust system. If it is plugged up with mud the engine can't breath. The chamber may have an internal collapse as opposed to plugged up with mud. With the exhaust removed, check the exhaust port. It may be carboned up thus plugging the cylinder exhaust. I repaired a Yamaha 80 with that problem once. The port had gone from 1" x 1.5" down to the size of a pencil eraser. Be sure the gas is good and gas/oil ratio is correct. Is the head on tight; bad head gasket, water leaks? When was the last time the crank seals were changed? Needed crank chamber pressure may be getting past bad crank seals. Standard air filter, but is it clean so air can pass through? Check the ignition timing. Find the problem then rate my answer :-)

Yes, air filter if really dirty,wet or messed up would cause it starving to get proper air to carbs. If that don't do it then next focus on possible fuel filter replacement. Please let me know results, thanks mike

I would check for a blockage in the carburettor fuel inlet or the reed valves may have something forcing them open.

the axle is a straight forward assembly, but this requires having the brakes and the front end of the fairing removed. once the axle is out, the from wheel will just fall off.

check to see if one off the bulbs have gone

The VIN would tell you this if you know how to read it. If you don't merely call a dealer and give them the number and they will tell you since they would want your parts business. An alternative method would be to merely test the acceleration of your bike. Look online for the times of both models. I haven't heard of a 14bhp aprilia but suppose it's possible. Here are some specs I dug up."RS 125 Standard" Topspeed=170kph/105 mph. Acceleration=0-100kph/0-60mph 6.6 seconds (at sea level). Racing track Aprilia RS 125 topspeed=220kph/140mph Acceleration 0-100kph/0-60mph 5+/-seconds.

have you over filled it?...check this...or has the clucth cover gasket leaking?

Try checking your main jet it may be blocked ,and only your running on the idel jet only .

depends how much length you have in the rear supension fork and how much wieth you have between the fork
