2011 kawasaki Vulcan 1700 Voyager - Page 10 Questions & Answers
The crankshaft keyway is damaged on my 2001 kawasaki ninja 500r is there a way to repair it?
there is a way to do the job but it will require pulling the crank shaft out of the engine and taking it to a machine shop
a new bigger key way can be machined then a step key made to fit the new key way at the same time retaining the standard key for the drive cog
consider a new crank or a good second hand crank from a bike wreckers
which ever way you go will be expensive

Clutch slipping 1999 Vulcan Classic 1500
Yes, he should have... The problem IS not enough "slack", "clearance", "free play" in the clutch itself once it gets warmed up.. make DOUBLE sure you have the correct fluid in the hydraulic system (if its wrong - it will overheat and expand and cause this very issue!!)..
THINK about whats happening.... when it gets warm, the "slack", "freeplay", and other "clearance" in the entire clutch system is being eliminated due to thermal expansion.. and then the slipping starts... Have the mechanic make DOUBLE SURE he has the metal plates and fiber plates stacked in the correct order and the correct amount of each... and NONE are warped!
good luck!

1985 Kawasaki ZL900 Eliminator only runs with choke on
As far as not running without choke, you really need to pull the carbies down and give them a once-over. Did the bike spend a lot of time off the road? Old gas turns into jelly and really blocks jets. Check the diaphragms and clean the jets. Carburetor cleaner (dry cleaning fluid) will help. Check float level as well. Putting gunk through the fuel will likely dislodge some scale and really block things up.
