Why is it issuing a little white smoke?

Check the cooling system. Some times white smoke can happen when coolant gets into the engine. Watch the coolant level to see if it is going down. Also pull the spark plug and have a look at it as well. I hope this helps. Rod

You can see a parts diagram at www.babbittsonline.com Click on the "ATV'S" tab instead of the Motorcycle tab shown below. The part to order is the left center case. The only problem is that case halves are matched sets. The proper thing to do is to order both left and right case halves. During manufacturing, differences in machine set-ups etc., can cause minor alignment deviations in drill hole locations, shaft mount collars, etc... It is a real bummer to tear an engine down, mount a new case half, and then find that when the case screws are tightened the shafts bind up and won't turn. By the way, the repair requires a complete engine tear down. Are you sure you have the tools and mechanical ability to put it all back together and make the adjustments, ( valves, cam timing, balancer settings ), necessary to get the engine running again? You will want to get a service manual. tombones49_278.gif

Your cylinder is probably full of fuel, becareful here. Disable the spark and kick it over with the spark plug out to remove the fuel.
Your problem sounds like a stuck float in the carburator. It needs to be removed and cleaned out good.

1982 yamaha yz490, I checked

If it's leaking from the bowl drain, the drain screw isn't seating in the drain hole. Shut the gas off, pull it out and clean the tapered seat it seals in. I know you said you cleaned the carb, but if the float needle isn't seating, it would leak out the overflow and flood out the carb as well. Check out the float-if it's brass, shake it and listen for gas inside. If it's plastic, put it in a cup of gas and see if it floats. They do get saturated over time and need to be replaced. Good luck!

I have had this issue w/auto decompressors after rebuilding the top ends too.If you used a good synthetic assembly lube or oil to pre lube it, they'll actually stick rotated out (in the running position) and won't work. Pull the valve cover off and spray a little carb cleaner on the weight and spring and rotate it manually with your fingers and make sure it will snap back on it's own. Make sure the motor's at TDC before doing this or it may be in a position to engage the valve lifter and you won't be able to check it's operation.Good luck!

My idle speed mechanism broke

You didn't say what year, model and engine size you have. I can work around that by simply sending you to the web site below. There you can see an exploded view of the carb assembly. The view should allow you to figure out the problem and will assist in reassembly. Please rate my answer. Thanks. www.babbittsonline.com

I have a 2002 Yamaha SR125 and my original Speedometer has packed in. Everything works apart from the mileage. Does anyone know how to wind the Clock back?

This is a highly ill - eagle act to do. In the old days we would put an electric drill on the drive cable, but now they make them tamper proof so they only go one way. The bezels are crimped on so you can't get inside them. I expect modern one may be electronic. How will your insurance company know what mileage you have done? I have never known an insurance cancel or fine due to mileage. You should have just disconnected it when you got close to the limit. Buy a used one and use them for 6 months in turns. There are two or three here 23K and one with 36k https://www.google.com/search?q=2002+yamaha+sr125+speedometer ..
