Make sure you are adjusting valves on compression stroke (intakes opens first then closes coming upon compression) timing chains are big problem in atv's due to owners never tightening the chain. Run a compression test, sounds like you may have burned exhaust valve due to stretched timing chain. If you can get it running , rev it up and pour small amount of water into intake after it warms up to knock the carbon off the valves. There is a TDC mark on the flywheel on the left side under a plug. Pull the cover off the head at top on left side and check to see where the timing mark on the cam vs mark on the head are. If the mark on the cam isn't close to the mark on the head then the timing chain has jumped time or it's stretched beyond the limit.
