I have a 2007 softail Fuel Injected. When I ride for about 10 minutes, the bike just dies. It cranks right up but it dies intermittently from then on...

You have a HARLEY so why not take advantage of the superb self diagnostic system and see what DTCs are set. This will save you untold time, headaches and money. Then if you do not know how to display DTCs or you do not want to find out how to display the DTCs or if you just do on not want a quick and easy diagnosis and fix you could start by testing your engine temperature sender which is likely the problem.

After about 10 minutes of riding, my bike dies. starts right when cranked but dies intermittently from there on.

You have a Harley so take advantage of self diagnostics and first off check your bike for DTCs. This can save you many troubles, much time, many headaches and LOTS of money. Then if you do not know how or want to find out how or do it, next thing would be to check out your Engine Tempersture sender.

You do not relean the idle. If you want to adjust the idle you need a computer system to program the ECM The A/F ratio is also controlled by the ECM

What sort of oil does my harley rocker c take

You do not mention engine or primary or transmission. HD SYN3 can be used in any or all. I believe for the engine the best is Harley-Davidson 360 (20/50) in most operating temperatures I am operating in. If you know how HD tested, developed and otherwise came up with this oil it is quite impressive. You could use synthetic (SYN3) but I don't I just use the regular HD 360 motorcycle oil. You do need motorcycle oil because it has necessary, very beneficial additives that are not in automotive oils. Unless you are running in very hot outside temperatures I do not see the benefit to SYN3 but if one has money to throw around it is very good oil also. Thing is to change it always before it gets a chance to break down and or turn dirty. HD recommends changing the oil and filter at 5000 miles or 8000 km intervals and I would recommend that or sooner in very hot or dusty conditions. Using synthetic oil does not extend these mileages between changes. If you have been using one type of oil for an extended time it is usually not recommended to change to a different type i.e. HD 360 to SYN3 or vice versa. If you do not know what was used before pick a type now and stick with it. SYN3 is all 20W50. (The W stands for winter.) The oil has a viscosity of 20 cold and will not thin out more than a 50 weight would when it is hot. Harley recommends HD 360 engine oil as follows:

H.D. Multi-Grade SAE 10W40 as excellent for cold weather starts below 50 degrees F and for use with lowest ambient temperature below 40 degrees F (4 degrees C). H.D. Multi-Grade SAE 20W50 as good for cold weather starts below 50 degrees F and for use with lowest ambient temperature above 40 degrees F (4 degrees C). H.D. Multi-Grade SAE 50 as poor for cold weather starts below 50 degrees F and for use with lowest ambient temperature above 60degrees F (16 degrees C). H.D. Multi-Grade SAE 60 as poor for cold weather starts below 50 degrees F and for use with lowest ambient temperature above 80 degrees F (27 degrees C). For transmission and/or primary use SYN3 or FORMULA+ TRANSMISSION AND PRIMARY CHAINCASE LUBRICANT (Part No. 99851-05, US quart size). I won't deal with fork oil at all. Whatever you do, NEVER use anything but DOT 4 Brake Fluid.in a DOT 4 system. Also be careful with it as it will eat away any and all painted surfaces and even the black powder coated brake fluid reservoir coatings. If DOT 5 goes into a DOT4 system or DOT 4 goes into a DOT5 system all rubber brake system components will be destroyed. John

I put about 3500 miles on since I had all the fluids changed on this bike, I bought it with 2300 miles when I had the fluids changed initially, so do I need to change them all again?

You should change the oil at least once a year wether you ride it or not and after about 5,000 miles from the last change. Brake fluid should be changed about every 5 years or when you notice a decrease in braking sensation.

Does only 1 cap come off on a 1999 harley fatboy gas tank

The right side cap comes off so you can add fuel. The crossover hose at the front of the tank lets fuel flow to both sides. The left cap holds the fuel gauge and fits into a hollow hole. The fuel gauge wiring comes out at the bottom of the tank, thru this hole. Don't try to twist the left cap off or you could damage the wiring for the gauge!

Electric fuel pump not working

Need to check the power to the fuel pump to confirm that it is powered. If there is no power you need to check the fuse, the wiring circuit.IF there is power and the pump does not work then this must be removed and tested on bench for the action and pressure.

2003 Harley Davidson Softail. Running lights will not turn off ever. Red key security light stays on in IGNITION position.

Wow, that's a lot of codes! You have codes that I can't find. Number one tip, keep the battery on the bike and on a Battery Tender which keeps it trickle charged. However, does the bike not start? You have a security immobilizer on that model! Removing the battery, or letting it go flat means it needs resetting. I found this; It was likely PPU 82883. It stands for the electronic Speedometers Pulse Per Unit. The codes prior to that are what are important. Jun 19, 2011
