2007 Harley Davidson FXDC Dyna Super Glide Custom Questions & Answers
The idle was high like the choke was on. Went to 2 shops, intake seals put in and idle adjusted. Now, when I stop sometimes no idle - restart bike.
I am going to assume bike is stock fuel injected because as far as I know, there was no carburetor Dyna model in 2007. Idle problems on these are caused by two items, the ECU or the idle air control (IAC) unit. If the problem occurs mostly when hot, I would suspect the idle air control (IAC) motor. Around 2006 models onwards, the ECU was very unreliable and has been superseded a number of times but you will not get one free, believe me I have tried. The IAC is mounted on top of the manifold just behind the air cleaner box. Try tapping this when fault is present and if it corrects then replace same. There are two small Torx screws holding it in place. No need for calibration or otherwise as the ECU controls this to automatically adjust the idle speed. If you have access to diagnostics then diagnosis is easier. The ECU will have to be replaced by a dealer as it will have to be programmed to the bike as the come blank.
If the bike has a carburetor then idle problems are mostly caused by air leaks around the manifold or by the carburetor itself. Any half decent shop should be able to cure it.
