hi.
please excuse me if i seem to be asking obvious questions.
1. have you drained the tank and put fresh fuel in, preferrably with redex or equivalent fuel additive/cleaner
2. have you checked/cleaned the air filter.
3. have you checked and cleaned the spark plugs.
4. if there is a battery, is it charged and holding charge properly.
if you can answer YES to all of the above, then please tell me the make and model of the bike so i can give more specific advice on servicing a bike after storage.
if the answer for any of the above is NO, then try them first as they are general steps for starting any vehicle after any length of time in storage. if the bike still does not run properly, then i will need the make and model of the bike as there are different procedures for different types of carburetter, and different thing again if there is fuel injection.
please feel free to ask for further advice.

All points to a defective key switch - not shorted, it simply no longer makes contact. Use a tester to check all wires that come ang do to the switch then check that the switch actually makes the contact when you turn the key.

Hi
Check the spark, remove the spark plug from the engine head, reconnect it in the wire boot and ground the tip of the spark on the frame or the engine. While you check for spark have someone pull the recoil for you.
A new spark plug is suggested.
Let us know if you have something more to know else accept the suggestion.

If you are positive the exhaust is not clogged, have you rebuilt the top end recently? The only thing I can think of is the piston is in backwards forcing the exhaust side to push into the carbs. The arrow on the piston always points to the exhaust ports.
