Battery does not hold charge @
Something has to be draining your battery. Try to find out what is still pulling power. What could still be running even when your ignition switch is off. Usually it's the parking light. Depending on your make the last turn of your key after your lock, is a parking light notch. My Hyabusa has that kind of notch and I'm always being alerted that my back light is still on after I'm in the house.
The battery will not hold charge @
If the battery won't hold a charge take it to an auto parts store. they'll usually check it for you on a load tester for free. Typically the issues of the battery discharging stem from the charging system. I would check the stator output as well as the regulator. More than likely your problems stem from those areas. the stator produces ac current and the voltage regulator/ rectifier converts the ac current to dc current and keeps your battery charged.
So its probably your voltage regulator.
when engine is off the battery should read 12.5 volts
At idle the baterry should read 12.8+ volts
at 2000 rpm battery should read 13.0 - 14.8 volts
if your not getting those readings your voltage regulator is bad.
you can find them at parts for scooters dot com pretty cheap and they ship fast.
as for the speedo, you may be able to take apart and reset the needle. Some you can't even get to.
so you may have to get a new one.
Have a red lamp , its amiddel lamp on lest side ?
The battery is charging up, that should be the reason the light is on. you had it in a dry state, and now you brought it back to life. It should charge up and the light will go out. Give it a few miles of steady running on the road, like about 50. Hope this helps.
