Does the Kymco People S 200 have an alternator?
To keep things clear for you i've listed 2 things for you to check.
1.
Your bike produces its own power. It consists of a stationary stator with a (pick-up/pulse) signal generator
The rotor/flywheel is mounted onto the keyed crankshaft, and secured with a nut.
This will be on the right side of the motor, you'll have to remove a cover to get to it.
I would have this tested with an ohm meter before you remove anything.
Pulse generator coil resistance should read 70-130 Ohms.
2.
Your battery produces power to start your enegine and run some lights. After some time your battery would go dead if not recharged. Your bike has a Voltage Regulator & Rectifier built into one unit, which some people call just a voltage regulator, and some people call it an alternator.
Your above mentioned stator produces an electrical current called AC power, which probably only runs the headlights, and the rest of that AC power is converted to DC power via the Alternator/Voltage Regulator, which runs the rest of the lights and horn, etc.
Your alternator should put out 13.5 - 15.5 Volts @ 5000 rpm.
Any other reading means your Alternator is bad. Too low undercharging Too high overcharging.
Test your alternator at the battery when the motor is running.
If you need to replace your alternator, it is located under the (nose)front plastics.
Usually a 4 prong plug and one bolt securing it to the frame.
HI, I was asked by
Yes you can charge the battery with a battery tender, or battery charger, when the bike is sitting.
Your People S 200 requires a 12 v, 6Ah battery.
Fully charged will have 13.1 Volts
Undercharged 12.3 Volts
Most battery tenders use low amps to charge and wont overcharge your battery. It just maintains it at 12.5 Volts.
If you use a battery charger, be sure you monitor it regulary, as some models don't shut off.
It will not start by
When you kick start a motorcycle or scooter, the motor turns over much faster than your electric starter can turn it over, even with a new battery.
I saw this before with several brands of scooters and the problem was solved by making sure you have clean battery terminals, and a fully charged good battery.
Some batteries will take a full charge but cant take a load. So your battery may seem good because it has 12+ volts, but when you try to start it it drops below 10-11 volts.
Most local auto parts stores can put a load test on your battery for free. If you purchase a new one, make sure it is the one called for for your scooter.

Hi! I strongly suggest that you put in a genuine kymco crank assembly. Since you made some modifications, a kymco crank may resolve this. Since it's a trial and error thing for a modified scooter, the genuine crank will be close enough on resolving this. Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa!
The ZX-50 suddenly won't accellerate
There are only three things that could do this:
1. Air intake restriction
2. Fuel restriction.
3. Throttle cable slippage.
Please check the filters, the throttle cables etc.
HI, I have a KYMCO
If you pull the seat bucket you will be able to trace your fuel and vacume line to the petcock. You can help the process by manualy applying suction at the vac line and a shot of starting fluid in the airbox inlet should get you going.
Relpace a transmision belt at agilty 125 kymco
you have to figure out how to remove the side body panels first.i just examined mine, starting taking off a few screws at a time.it does take quite a tug to undo the panel from the clips.the back 3 clips you had to slide toward the back to unseat, but first to unseat the front 2 i had to pull straight out.that should give you enough access to the chain case.REMEMBER PULL THE PANEL A LITTLE HARD BUT BE CAREFUL,THEY LOOK LIKE THEY COULD BREAK.cheap a$$ foreign ****.
Change brake lever
"4 phillips head screw on the bottom, loosen it and the lever will come off
I have KYMCO S 200 and need to know what needs
At 300 miles the only thing you might want to do is check the gearbox oil level and then lube and adjust the chain. Check with the dealer on the filter type. As to what type of oil, u
se 10w40 motor oil in the gear box. Don't use any synthetic oils, oil marked "EC", or oil with "special" additives. Stick with the major brands; Pennzoil, Quaker State, Mobil or Shell. If in a hot area like Texas or New Mexico go with 20w50.

HOW TO GET THE BACK WHEEL OFF
Please check your owner's manual. (Seems like the rear springs are bolted together to the rear tire. In that case, you will have to remove the axle bolts and knock it out with a rubber mallet).
Hooked battery up wrong, speedometer not working
You are very lucky to have only knocked out the speedometer only. After having wrongly connected the battery, any attempt to start the engine, which it won't be able to do, the first notch turned by the key switches on the electrically operated instruments. Since this is DC voltage, the current flows in only one direction. The speed is indicated by the amount of current being generated in the potentiometer. Since the polarity got changed the current generated by the potentiometer to very high amperage since the battery is also supplying current(polarity change), the total current is much more that it can accept. Thus the coils of the potentiometer have burnt out. If only the can be replaced, do so, else change the entire speedometer assembly.........sodeep
PS: Ask the repairman to check the fuse if it has one.
Dead battery
Steve when you store a vehicle it is best to use a trickle charger to maintain the battery.
Buckyrain, I believe your problem can be solved by replacing the charging fuse next to the battery. It is not with the other fuses. If you pull the battery out it should be on the left with a plastic cover thing over it. Follow the power line and it will be along that.
