Hi, Anonymous probably so for this situation I would call my local dealer or reputable shop's service/parts department and inquire about any possible quick fix or parts inquiry. If necessary transport your vehicle to the dealer or shop and have a professional technician take it for a test drive, if it is in running condition, and give you a written estimate of repairs and answer any specific questions you may have about your issue. the variator is probably stuck as the rollers wear and either fall out in there and jam it up or wear into the side of the ramps.does it go ok on a straight?

Either the variator is stuck in the geared up position usually due to the rollers being worn or the belt is too short.is the throttle cable ok and not jammed with some free play in it ?

The carburetor needs to be removed and cleaned, water must be in it or some rust from the old can must have got into some of the injectors.

Is it normal that a new bike dies on you as you drive it? No way my friend. The carburetor should have a thermal-choke and it probably needs some adjustment.
