Clutch not disengaging

Check the clutch adjustment. If the lever has more freeplay in it than the thickness of a quarter at the perch then it needs to be adjusted. I’m happy to assist further over the phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/robert_5bac37c3cb991fdb

My 2004 Vulcan Classic 1500 won't idle.

is the carb jetted? if so check to make sure it has the right size jets. too small of jets starve the engine of fuel, and too large flood it. also there should be 2 jets one main jet which controls the amount of fuel when at 1/4 throttle to fuel throttle and then there should be a second which would be the pilot jet that controls idle mixture (1/4 throttle and less) it's longer and thinner than the main jet with multiple holes for mixing air and fuel for idle. have them to make sure the jetting is correct. Also IF the engine had been bored you will need to use larger jets for the added volume in the cylinder chamber from the boring. aftermarket exhausts will also cause the engine to be rejetted but usually the sellers will have charts telling you what jets to run with the exhaust.

When I pull the clutch it will disengage ... but

Sounds like the clutch pack is having issues. If the plates are worn or warped you'll have the same type of issue. I would pull the clutch apart and check the plates. I’m happy to assist further over the phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/robert_5bac37c3cb991fdb

Kawasaki vulcan 1500 classic just clicks when

Hi and welcome to the site,

Initially, have the battery externally charged and/or load tested.

Offhand, with a freshly charged or new battery and clicking sound persist, then possibly a faulty starter relay. To confirm, temporarily jump the 2 big terminals of the starter relay. If the starter motor spins, then the fault on the relay has been confirmed. Should still be a no go, then a likely concern with the starter motor or more particularly, the carbon brushes and/or the commutator segments.

Good luck and thank you for asking.

What is the ampage of the fuse between regulator

There should be no fuse between the alternator and the battery as the heavy wire runs from the batt terminal on the alternator directly to the positive terminal of the battery lead

Shift lever loose

hello,I had some threads striped out of the end that goes over the shaft and caused it not to tighten good enough on the knurled end coming out of the gear housing. I took it off, retapped it with an 8mm tap and bought a new 8mm bolt to go in there. Actually gave me a chance to re-adjust the position too. Works great now.get the service manual for it it will help you can download it from the below link:http://goo.gl/HyxTzrgood luck

I am about to buy a 1998 vn 1500 kawasaki -

NO theres not. i own this very same bike i have the 99 1500 drifter #0791 last 4 of vin. the only quirk with this bike is the clutch springs. they were weak but if this bike has over around 20k miles you should be good because someone else probally has replaced them, if not its a simple quick repair. but if you have to replace them just upgrade to the mean streak spring they will fit, they are a different part number but they will fit. its an hour and a half job to replace them. i have done about 10 of these in the last few years for customers. if any further questions contact me on here and we can go over this on the phone. i am a kawasaki vulcan nut. i own 2 of these bikes one being the 1500 drifter the other a 02 800 drifter.
