Having problem with 2nd gear shifting. Any tips?

what make and model is your bike?, Some models use the engine oil as the clutch oil while others have different reservoirs for the clutch an engine. Sometimes this can as simple as changing the oil, on other unfortunate times it can be a problem with the transmission, and in rare occasions it can be an electrical problem depending on make on model of motorcycle.

N stands for on choke knobe

When running, the choke knob is placed in the down position and as this is the normal position, maybe it stands for "Normal" but I am only guessing. In case you don't know, the knob is placed in the up position for starting and the down position once the engine is running. I hope that is of some help.
