My 2017 Forty Eight (1200) with Fuel Injection has the exact same problem...at random it will begin sputtering either alot or just mildly...the other moment it runs fine...did you ever find a solution?

Wow, that's a lot of codes! You have codes that I can't find. Number one tip, keep the battery on the bike and on a Battery Tender which keeps it trickle charged. However, does the bike not start? You have a security immobilizer on that model! Removing the battery, or letting it go flat means it needs resetting. I found this; It was likely PPU 82883. It stands for the electronic Speedometers Pulse Per Unit. The codes prior to that are what are important. Jun 19, 2011

The primary holds between 34 and 40 ounces of oil. Stand the bike straight up. Make sure it's safe and won't fall over. Remove the derby cover. After draining the oil, refill until the oil just comes up to the lowest point of the clutch spring. If you look at the clutch assembly, you'll see a bright aluminum "ring". This is the outside edge of the outer clutch drum. Just inside that, you'll see a black round piece of metal. This is the clutch spring. Fill just until the oil comes to the bottom edge of this spring. Do not overfill or the clutch will drag and you will not be able to get the transmission into neutral with the engine running.

The switch is insulated so wires can go either way.

So you will first disconnect the battery then take the center counsel off and remove the t25 screws carefully pull assembly out and change filter

Without being able to see and mess with the bike a bit, I would guess that you have a shifter pawl spring broken in your transmission. It's either the return spring or the spring on the pawl itself. To test the spring, start from the "neutral postition" of the shifter. Regardless of the gear the bike might be in, when you are not pushing down on the shifter or lifting up on it, it is in the neutral position, where it normall sits. Now, using your fingers push down on the shift lever until you feel the transmission start to shift, you feel a resistance. Stop right there, do not shift the gear but allow the shifter to return to the neutral position. Now, lift the shifter with your fingers until you feel the resistance of the transmission getting ready to shift. What you are feeling for is the resistance of the shifter return spring. Does it feel the same in both directions? If not, the spring is broken. If it does, then the problem is something else.

Still if the transmissio will not shift into a particular gear, something is wrong inside the transmission and you'll have to go into it to find the problem most likely.

Richard, the next step is t do a compression test on both cylinders. Much more likely that you have a spark plug fouled or not firing...
