My passenger seat airbag is not working correctly. When someone sits in it the airbag light does not turn off. I have had it into the dealer 6 times and the problem is still not fixed. They have replaced the passenger seat and the seat belt. Still not fixed.

Same issue. One response at another website said the dealership can reprogram (flash) the cars computer to fix this but most dealers do not know about this.

There is a sensor under the seat cushion that is basically a weight sensor, if a certain weight is not sensed then the airbag is turned off, it must be defective.

Drop out of the sale unless they fix it.

The passenger side airbag is off on my 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe... how do I turn it back on ?

There is no "switch" the passenger airbag (referred to as a smart airbag system) is controlled by a weight sensing sensor in the seat cushion, the airbag is disabled anytime that something less than about 50 pounds is placed on the seat cushion. If you put items on the seat under that weight like a bag of groceries for instance it can confuse the system and turn off the passenger airbag. What you need to do now is contact your local dealer and make an appt. to have the system scanned to see what the problem is that is keeping the passenger side airbag disabled. Good Luck.

How do I remove the passenger airbag on a 2004 Hyundai Santa fe?

First disconnect your battery and wait at least 1 minute to disable your airbag system. Next, remove your glove compartment and you will then see the retaining bolts for the airbag.

Airbag alarm

This should be for the passenger side airbag. If an adult is sitting in the passenger side seat and there is a light that says airbag off then you have a problem either with the passenger side airbag or with the passenger side seat detector. Start up the car and sit in the passenger seat, buckle the seat belt and make sure the light now says airbag on. If this does not happen take car to dealer. Dealers have correct computers to enter the airbag modules to read and diagnose the fault code.
