If I were you, I'd consult a mechanic. They'll be able to either tell you what you need to do, or they'll do it for you. Either way, it is a cool idea. I've always thought it would be fun to turn my car into a taxi. It would definitely be an interesting change. Good luck!

I think it would be fun to install a taxi cab meter in my car. It would be cool to know how much I would be charging others to drive with me. It'd be interesting to see. http://www.yellowcabaz.com

If I were you, I would just take it into a mechanic and have him install it. Are you making your own car into a taxi? If so, that would be really cool. That way you're driving a car you enjoy driving!

  • In order to access the odometer harness you will have to pull the instrument cluster out and where the speedometer and odometer is you can access the little harness.
  • From there it kinda goes out the firewall. So you can access it from inside the vehicle but oh the fun to remove the cluster panel. This is how most taxi cab companies install their meters though. By removing the cluster and tapping in to the odometer harness.

  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

Regards, Tony

2003 grand caravan sport speedometer doesn't work

I have 4 dodge caravans. Everyone one of them does this we take it on the freeway get up over 60 mph and it will kick back around. I'm serious it will work fine after. Everyone can do this. I run a small taxi business and we only use dodge caravans.

Why wont my MPH needle work on my dodge caravan 1994

If the speedometer does not work but the odometer does, the problem is usually in the speedo head.
If both components do not work, the problem may be the speed sensor in the transmission.

Why are my meter and speedometer is not work on my 2000 dodge caravan

Bad wiring in the gauge cluster (the "dash board"). You can 1: Live with it, 2: buy a new one for $500 or 3:pick one up at the junk yard for maybe $85. or you can have someone go through yours and possibly find the bad wire and re sodder... It's a loose grounding wire.

My gauges don't work, on the instrument panel why?it's a 1994 dodge caravan 3.0 Liters, list of things that don't work are speedometer - gas - temperature - kilometers - I never know how much gas I have or...

There is a fuse for the instrument under the dash on the drivers side, if the fuse is good. Then give the dash a hit with your close fist right over the instrument panel, sometimes that brings it back to life. It's common for the wire harness clip on the instrument panel circuit board solder goes bad and need to be re soldered, the heat of the current after a few years will melt the solder and the clip comes loose and needs to be re solder back in place. Just remove the instrument panel from the dash, disconnect the wire harness and remove the circuit board and solder the clip back in place. Good luck and hope this helps. be glad to help.

1994 dodge caravan, 2wd, 3.0 engine

12 - battery recently disconnected. 21 - Oxygen sensor signal doesn't change (stays at 4.3 - 4.5 V) possibly bad O2 sensor 37 - Transmission temp. sensor reading low.
There are many options that can cause these problems, but loose wiring to the battery and a weak alternator would be one of the first things to check.
