I have just changed the plugs on my 2002 Shogun (UK) didn't have to remove the manifold only the throttle body and top half of the air filter housing. Disconnect wiring from throttle assembly, disconnect wiring from air filter, remove throttle body by removing 4 bolts, slacken the support bracket below and remove plastic cover to get access to the 3 coils, remove coils and the change plugs, other side a lot easier. Total time 2hrs approx.
From what I have been reading online... The upper and middle manifold MUST be removed to get to the spark plugs to change them. 3 hour job minimum. should cost between $300 and $500.
