How to replace thermosta in my 93 Jeep grand Cheroke? (grah helps)
First and foremost, make sure the engine is cool, and has not been run for a few hours...Do this in an area where you can wipe up any spilled antfreeze, because you are going to lose some while doing this...O.k. start by finding the radiator hose coming from the top of the radiator, follow it to the water neck, that is the part covering the tstat. There will probably be two bolts holding the neck on, remove these bolts. Now you may have to tap the neck with a small hammer, wrench, screwdriver handle etc. After getting this loose you should have access to the tstat, make sure your new tstat came with a new gasket, or oring whichever the case may be.now its just a matter of removing the old tstat, and oring or gasket, make sure both surfaces are clean, if not scrape off the old gasket material, dirt, grease, etc with a razorblade, or scraper...now just reinstall new tstat the same way old one came out, with gasket or oring...reinstall bolts and tighten down...add antifreeze as needed, and you should be good to go.One thing to keep in mind, as you are disassembling old parts, make note as to how they fit in place, the tstat needs to go in a certain way, if installed upside down it will not function properly...
please rate my response...Thank you.
