Whilst i was driving my golf mk3 the clutch pedal went straight to the floor and stayed there. Had a look and the cable is fine but it has come out of the clip! Which is missing! Does anyone know where i can get one from and what is the correct name or part no. For it. Someone please help!

Thanks will try tomorrow. Is it called a retaining clip or something else?

just woke up but yes i would call it a retaining clip ,what happens is the cable hooks over the end of the clutch arm and it has a clip on the end to stop the cable coming off as the auto adjuster can move a bit or foot slips off the clutch ,quite fiddly to get too but not insurmountable ,but before you start make sure wire up the springy auto adjuster in the middle of the cable by the brake cylinder (LHD versions)

98 golf clutch pedal went to the floor. Car would not engage any gear. Fixed cable so pedal now feels good but still won't engage I can move gear lever any where, release pedal but nothing happens.

What do you mean when you say you fixed the cable. It sounds like the cable broke and you replaced it. Is that correct. If so, did you adjust the free play in the clutch pedal to the manufacturers specification. If you have not done this correctly the clutch will either not disengage, or no engage properly. From your description it appears as though there is n free play and hence the clutch is staying disengaged even when you release the clutch pedal. If this is the case, then try lengthening the cable until the clutch pedal moves with say 25 mm of free movement before anything happens, and try again.

My son was driving his 1997 Nissan Sentra to work. As he was shifting he heard a pop and the clutch pedal went to the floor. You can pull the pedal out, and it will stay out. If you push it will stay

Check to see if the cable on the gearbox moves and check the pedal under the dash to see if any cable is attached to the pedal still, it will be and easy find, good luck

I own a 2000 golf gti, just driving home and the clutch pedal has just hit the floor. Is it a clutch cable snapped or is it more serious?

its the cable.or the cable clip at the clutch bell housing end..thats the only thing that would cause the pedal to drop.......takes about an hour to change, and i dont think they are too expensive.....

The brakes on my vw golf mk3 have failed

eather you got a tear in the break line or air in the breaks thoes are the first things i would check look for fluid around the tires check your master cylender to see if it is low and if none of that is the issue then last resort its the power booster thats the round thing that sits behind the master cyclender usualy when that goes out your breaks are really hard to push so more than likely its the first things menchoned
