RUBBING NOISE In the past few days, my car started making a loud 'rubbing' noise when I turn left. Sometimes it does it when I'm going straight... right after a stop. It appears to be coming from the back end of the car.. and is getting progressively worse. Any thoughts?

I've never towed anything with my car ever.. .so I'm not sure that would be the problem. I did check the tires, though, and there's no unusual wear.

Check to see if the rear tires are making contact with the rear struts or springs, sometimes if you tow a heavy load with these cars it bends the spring perchs down and they rub on the inside tread of the tire, also be sure you have the right tire size on the car please rate -jeff

My brakes are scrubbing and antilock light comes on, also when ever i back up, my front left wheel makes a very loud noise. kind of like rubbing metal. whats wrong?

the noise is probably the ware sensors on the brake pads making noise the noise lets you know that the brakes are getting thin are are ready to be replaced.if you let this go to long you can damage the brake rotors, make sure you check to make sure the caliper is not sticking on the left side being this side is making more noise ,a stuck caliper can cause premature brake pads ware .

My car makes a loud humming noise while driving when turning left. its fine while going straight or right. Wheel bearing?

Possible. If you have changed tires lately, make sure they put the right size tires on. If they went up in size by any measure, it could be rubbing on the tire well and thus making the noise. Check the users manual if you have it and check to make sure the tire sizes are correct. Also check your power steering fluid. That would make a humming or moaning noise but it would be noticeable while turning.

My alero makes an awful sound when I turn to the right while driving at any speed. Going straight it makes some noise and when I turn left it goes away. I it is a loud groaning, humming sound like...

jack car just enough to take the weight off the road wheel, then using a tyre iron, see if theres any movement in any bushes, only try this on the flat with bricks under the chassis frame just in case....

Very loud "rubbing " sound when driving only

you did damage to the wheel bearing i bet it sounds like a airplane sound. also if you steering wheel is off 7"then have front end aligned because this will destroy the tires and they will make noise.

2001 corolla parking brake light on . Rear brakes making a rubbing noise

I would think that your parking brake cables and/or the park brake pivots may be seized. It appears that your rear brakes are being kept on by one or both of the abovementioned problems.
