The coolant light tells you are low of coolant, so have you checked to make sure that you have enough coolant - between the two marks on the radiator overflow reservoir? If not add and then keep a close eye on the ground under your car for the next few days to make sure that you are not leaking any out.

And if you haven't replaced your pressure cap on your radiator in several years, you might want to consider that.

Volvo using coolent

the most obvious cause is the head gasket ,its failing and drawing in the water so no problems with overheating or pressuring the system ,never mind the weekend mechanics who know more with the amount of beer they drink ,its failing as most gaskets will around the 100,000 mile mark regardless of make or model

My engine light when on in my car yesterday and my friend has one of those things that can scan and tell you whats wrong it said my coolent temp below thermistat regulating temp and where where you pull...

Hi:
Your coolant temp sensor was not reading right, and is a sensor that adjusts your eng timing. I would keep an eye on your coolant level. That would be a bigger concern, figuring out if you have a leak. If the cold comes back, you need to change out the coolant temp sensor.

I have a 95 jeep grand cherokee and it has 171000 miles and when you start it in the morning it wont stay running unless you keep it running and it runs like its missing but it has new plugs wiers and cap...

Check for codes... pay attention to idle air control, throttle position, manifold absolute pressure and intake temp sensor codes. If not showing codes, these can be tested with a good volt/ohm meter.DO NOT just start guessing and buying stuff!!!

Coolent light and check engine light

Your thermostat will not affect the heat in your car. This is controlled by the heater core which is pulled from coolant from the engine where the coolant will be the hottest. Your thermostat opens and allows the coolant from the engine to circulate into the radiator and the coolant from the radiator flow into the engine. A thermostat is cheap and easy to replace. The sensor should be a fairly inexpensive and easy replacement as well. I would change out the sensor first because bad thermostat would create an overheating problem.
