I have a 2000 Nissan xterra 4x4 v6 and it recently started stumbling on acceleration. I changed the plugs an wires to see I that helped and it drove fine after that then started stumbling on Acceleration like it didnt want to go a day later In the evening. I also checked all the fluid levels and they were good. I also checked the cap and rotor and cleaned the Inside (couldn't buy a new one at the mOment). What else could I do for a problem like this. It comes and goes.

Sounds like it might be fuel related,,, get some GOOD injector cleaner,, mix generously..run it through two tanks worth.. then change the spark plugs...(the crude it removes gathers on the plugs sometimes!)

SOURCE: 2000 nissan xterra wont start but will crankover

my truck didn't do the crazy idling so much but it was running a little rough before it finnally died. it just wouldn't start back up. i changed the fuel filter i could hear the fuel pump working i finnally pulled a spark plug out and realized it wasn't getting spark. after hooking a computer module up under the dash it told me that the camshaft position sensor was out. the sensor is integrated into the distributor therefore you have to change the distributor to replace the sensor. hope this helps some, i'm actually trying to fix mine tomarrow

SOURCE: Stumbles on acceleration

Well, I would replace the air filter, make sure the air hose from the air filter to the intake is not kinked or blocked and check for vacuum leaks. If these are all fine, I would check the fuel pressure as it is possible the pump is weak and not supplying enough fuel.

SOURCE: Stumbles and backfires on acceleration

Check the distributor shaft. They have a history of developing finite cracks that causes the condition your describing. Let me know if I can help you with any other info.

When my car nissan xterra is warmed the engine shut off

I have a customer with a 2000 Nissan Xterra 3.3 liter V6 with 180k miles. He stated that while driving on the highway the vehicle is fine. Once he exits the highway and drove on surface streets the engine stumbles, sputters and shuts down when he stops. The fuel pump is located under the right side rear seat. I removed the inspection cover to view the electrical connections. No problem there. I drove the vehicle for approx 20 minutes and it hesitated a little but not enough for me to come to a good conclusion. I needed the engine to heat up some more so I drove to Panda Express for lunch. I got my lunch to go, return to the vehicle and started the engine to eat while the engine idled. After my lunch was over I drove back to my customer's house. On the way God bless me with what I was searching for...the engine started to sputter. To shorten this story I replaced the distributor with a brand new assembly from AutoZone($233.65). Once I removed the factory distributor I spun it by hand and that's when I could feel that bearings were rough & worn.
Problem solved and my customer is happy.

My nissan xterra 2000 v6 right side cylinder plug is having black fluffy substance stuck on the plug

Sounds like carbon fouling. Easy fix is run an aggressive fuel injector cleaner as recommended by your local parts store through the gas tank. Also ensure that spark plug wire is firmly attached. If you took the plug out-you know it is a pain to get to it! A easy way to see is to start motor and idle, pull #6 wire off at distributor when it should be attached to plug and see if the idle changes. If it doesn't, the wire is not plugged on the spark plug or the rotor/distributor may be faulty.

Another more difficult task may be the removal and replacement of the fuel injectors them selves (or cleaning by a specialty shop). Good Luck!

2000 Nissan Xterra, v6 4x2 automatic. have a problem had code po325, and po306 come up, the car will not start. changed the spark plug, distributor cap and rotor. the xterra trys to turn on but it sounds...

You got a timing chain
Injector cleaner,in my opinion is a waste of money
PO306 could be a missing coil on cyl #6,still should start
PO325 Knock Sensor-most likely okey
Plugs, cap and rotor, will not prevent it from starting,it used to run with old parts, before the current problem!

I suggest you make sure you got the plug wires on correctly and number them with a ball point pen,on both ends.
Make a diagram of the dist cap wire locations.
Check out the TPS Sensor and make sure you have all intake ducting in place. You need the MAF Sensor in the system to run have it run
Have you checked fuel pressure? The pump may be going bad

2000 Xterra hesitateing, backfireing, not accelerating above 20mi

Airflow sensor very well may cause it , and Throttle position and temperature sensor too.
All of it has to be checked with good scaner , that can monitor values and data from ECM.
You need to find a better shop.
