The "spider" up under the plastic intake plenm, the poppets athe end of each of the plastic tubes that supply the fuel to the cylinders get carbon on them and cant spray fuel. to buy a new one at GM its $550.00 Gm is the oly place you should look for one no matter the price aftermarket "copies" are not the same and while you are in there change the fuel prssure regulator at the sam time they are bot a big problem with the vortec
Change the fuel filte also and then EVERY EVERY 15,000 mles and don't worry about the engine oil change that once every 4 or 5 years that is not nearly as important as the fuel filter nothing will happen just remember the fuel filter and forget oil changes don't worry about all that 3000 mile stuff.

1995 GMC Jimmy 4.3 V6 4 wheel drive. Ever so often

You're gonna want to check your gauges real carefully next time it happens. It's possible that the truck is overheating, or some electrical issue is causing it to short out. Eliminating possibilities here will be the goal. So be sure all your fluids are topped up. It's an old truck indeed, so there are a whole lot of possibilities.

Wont start

Did you mean starting fluid or a full tank of gas ?
V6 vortec engines require 60psi of fuel pressure or more to run.
You may need to check the fuel pressure with a gauge.

I have a 1997 GMC Jimmy with a 4.3L Vortec V6. It will turn over but won't start. It's getting fire and fuel. All the dash lights come on when the ignition is turned on and you can hear the fuel...

On the vortec engines they require 56 pounds of fuel pressure to start a few pounds shy of that you have a dead vortec you will need a fuel pressure guage to verify

I have a 4WD 1998 GMC Jimmy 4.3L Vortec V6 and it started running hot then it shut off and wouldn't start back up... do you think there would be any way to fix without replacing the whole engine

IS THEIR WATER IN THE OIL? CHECK THE PLUGS TO SEE IF THEIR WET.YOU MIGHT PUT SOME PLUGS IN IT IF WET TO SEE IF IT WILL RUN.THEN PUT SOME HEADGASKETS ON IT.BUT IN REALITY NEW MOTOR WOULD BE BEST.

Car needs starting fuel to start but then runs ok.It is a 94 gmc jimmy V6

I'd try a new coolant temperature sensor. It may be telling VCM that engine is already warm, so no need for extra fuel to start cold.

I have a 1995 gmc jimmy 4x4 vortec engine and can not get it to 3

If it's a manual transmission, it's the bushings under the gear shift that a beat out of it. If it's an automatic, check you fluid level and filter. It may not be able to build enough pressure in the tranny if the filter is clogged or isn't enough fluid.
