Help! I have a 2004 Ford Explorer XLT Sport, V8. My son bought a battery last weekend at Advance Auto Parts. (Don't say it!! Meant not to buy another battery from them, but was in a pinch.) Now car is very sluggish. Idles very low. ABS Light came on and went off after a couple/few hours. Then Check Engine Light came on and went off. Went to dealer, dealer says code is P0506, says throttle body sensor is bad and wants to replace entire throttle body for nearly $1000. Says nothing else to do or try. Friend suggested we try cleaning the throttle body itself. We bought a can of throttle body cleaner and sprayed up in there. That has helped a lot, it's not idling so rough, and does not feel that it's gonna go dead. But, still idling low and the Check Engine Light came back on. Autozone ran codes for me today getting 5 ABS codes, U1900 is the first one, and still getting P0506 plus 3 others for the throttle body. From reading internet sites, this happened to several folks when replacing the battery. Dealer didn't ask about battery, Autozone did tho. My son said the guy that sold him the battery cleaned the battery connections etc really well (maybe 10-15 minutes), so I'm thinking the truck was without a battery for two long and computer or sensors forgot who's truck they below too :-)), what do I do?? Short of spending $1000. Thanks in advance!!!!
Is the truck charging sufficiently? sound like the truck is going through a relearn process everytime you drive it. yes , Advance should have used a memory saver. but hte ABS codes after the battery replacement don't make any sense.are all the fuses good? they didn't "arc" the battery when changing it out did they? the U1900 code is a communication code, which means the abs module is unable to communicate with the ECM on the data bus system. again , I would check connections, charging voltage, and fuses before condemning the throttle.
Try disconecting the battery for about 40min and leave the key in the on position while its disconected, turn off the key and reconnect the battery this will reset the ecu and may help your problem good luck and please rate
