Hi there,
My 2001 S320 is not blowing cold air. the EC button is not going off. While I was driving 4 days ago, silver smoke came out of one of the vents. I turned the AC off and since then it does not come on. please help

EC stands for air conditioning. Have you charged the air conditionning with gas. is the air conditioning pump making a clicking noise when you press the EC button.
One gallon of gas produces about 1 gallon of water vapor,its gotta go somewhere......thats why its best to run a car hot.have you seen a cars exhaust in winter,its steaming.......and the exhaust pipe is made of steel.....its cold..therefore CONDENSATION.
could be numerous problems, but you are correct in assuming low freon...try that after visual check under hood confirms no obvious failures like missing drive belt or disconnected electric wires...
