Horn occasionlly starts blowing while car is unattended and not running. A tap on the horn button will stop it.

Search engine bay fusebox locate horn relay remove, tap with screwdriver handle, put back in place. Still does not work open horn cover in steering wheel.

locate the horn under the hood, and tap on it. if it makes some noise your horn may be bad. start simple first though shech fuses, and make sure horn is still plugged up.

if it was a fuse problem the horn wouldn`t make a noise.it sounds like the horn contacts that touch when you push on the button are not making proper contact each time.if you remove the horn button and look at the contact spots you may see the problem(uneven contact surfaces).if you move/bend the contact surfaces closer to each other of straighten this may help the problem.you may even have a horn that needs to be replaced as you said when it does work it stutters and not blow.the diaphragm in the horn can dry out and not vibrate like it should.try tapping on the horn when someone tries to blow the horn if it stops or gets louder then the diaphragm is no good.you could also check the connection at the horn itself it may have a bad connection due to corrosion and just need cleaning.

• The horn relay might have welded contacts (stuck in the on position). Pulling the relay should stop the horn.
  
• The wiring harness on the steering column might have a broken wire to the horn relay shorting to someplace that applies power to the relay. In this case, turning the steering wheel all the way to one side or the other may stop the horn, and it won't sound when you press the horn button.
• The horn button in the steering wheel is stuck on or shorted.

When you press on the horn button do you hear the horn relay click? The start at the horn, bench test it, if it works then check for power, is the fuse good and is the relay ok. If the stuff checks out then it may be the horn contacts behind the steering wheel.

Three things to check here... First find the actual horn assembly... generally under or near the front bumper or radiator support... pull off the wire and check for power with someone depressing the horn button... if you have power there then it's your horn assembly... could just be rusted to the point of being frozen... I have fixed these by spraying WD 40 into it and tapping on it... If no power then check the horn relay... either get another one from the junkyard and plug it in or put a temporary jumper wire (12 gauge wire) in the large terminals where the relay goes and try the horn... if it blows it was the relay... if still no horn after these tests then it's the switch under the steering wheel...you might need a puller tool to remove the wheel the most likely problem in that case is a damaged horn ring (transfers juice from the button in the wheel to the horn circuit)... I think your horn relay is making contact from behind your horn buttons on your steering wheel. Usually as time creeps up the insulation that is placed on the positive lead for the horn gets worn out from constant horn action. If it is worn down the horn is touching a ground and completing the circuit and thus making the horn sound. I would start with that first before getting more technical. Let me know. Gabe

Very possibly the horn relay. This is located in the left junction block ( fuse panel) on the left side of dash. Open driver door and you will see a panel cover on the end of dash. On the cover it should list the position of the relay which I believe is on the right of fuse panel. If you try the horn and it sticks on again, try tapping the relay, if stops then that is the problem.

I've had this exact problem before when being jumped off. The fob DOES NOT make it stop. We removed the fuse that goes to the horn. As soon as your battery gets recharged from the alternator, the fob will work again and the alarm will quit sounding. The only pain about removing the fuse is that the cruise control will not work until you put it back.
