I locked my keys in my 1999 Jaguar XK8. I got into the car, but the button to open the trunk will not work. Alarm goes off when I open the doors. I only have the maintenance manual, but no owners manual. HELP!

    Got into the car with the help of AAA. Key was not used. I can get into the car, but the trunk button will not work. The only key I have is in the trunk.

    I locked my keys in the trunk of my 1999 Jaguar XK8 convertible. AAA got the doors of the car open, but the button to open the trunk will not work. The car was not opened with a key, but the AAA serviceman pulled the lock with a hook. The alarm went off when we opened the door. The only key I have is in the trunk, so I have no key available. HELP!

    I will try that...thanks for your help...hard to get a key made on a weekend...can only the dealer make a new key, or can any locksmith?

  • Your Jaguar has a transponder key. So a locksmith can easily make a key that will open your trunk. Then you can use that key to get into the trunk and get your set of keys and kill the alarm and drive away.

  • There is one way to get into the trunk.

  1. First your gonna remove the license plate.
  2. Now look and notice a circular tape over a hole.
  3. Now take a long flat thin screwdriver and a flashlight.
  4. Look through the hole and you will notice the latch mechanism.
  5. Take your screwdriver and gently push on that small metal tab and the trunk should pop open for you.
  6. This is a little trick but it will get your trunk open so keep at it for a bit.
  • If you try this and just can't get it then have a quick key made. But the above will work.

Does the system flashes valet mode when you try to release the trunk by pushing the button?

    Check the XK8 badge below the rear light unit, there is a keyhole hiding there. you can use , Do you have a black key with you?

    The battery module is located in the trunk so finding a hotwire is not possible. Use a screw driver head in the key hole using a light identify the latch and try to open it.



    If it does not work you have to go fr a new key. Kindly reconsider the rating you have given

Check the relays first. Make sure battery is fully charged. Low voltage can cause problems. Try owners forum for Jag.

As i understand your quest you cant open the doors? Can you open the back trunk? If so you can disassamble the back seat wall and enter this way to the car. Post back.

1999 porsche 996 replaced key fob battery disconnected battery now trunk releses are locked and cant access battery.How do you open frt trunk manually
Assuming the car battery is ok (if not, buy a male to male cigarette lighter at the auto store and connect to another car until charged enough to unlock the doors...but don't try to crank the ignition!). The trunks won't open if the battery went dead with the alarm set because arming the alarm physically locks the releases.

Sounds like the key code is switched off because you replaced the key fob battery. Try unlocking the car manual with the key in the door lock. Then switch the ignition on to reactive the keyless entry. If this does not work, you might also try pressing the fob unlock button with the key in the door lock until the dash led flashes.

you should have trunk key all cars trunk can be open remote by the inside. if any fails you always have a trunk key. check your ignition key .i seen ignition keys do both. it cranks car and open doors and trunk.
