My 2000 jeep grand cherokee will start and drive fine. The check engine will turn on and it will die. Some times i can get it to start and then there is times that it won't. When it don't start, it won't start all day and then i have to go back that night or the next day and it will start.

There are many things to do with the engine management system the when the ECM light comes on it can kill the engine. You can go to an autoparts store and they will read the codes for free. Get the code number and description. let me know, i will help. Randy

saw off the "fixed" hold-down on the distributor and use a chevrolet smallblock hold-down. Once re-installed turn distributor ccw about 1/4" or slightly more. If I'm correct, engine should run fine after that.

Jeep wont start

The crank position sensor is on the bell housing of the transmission, very hard to see, on passenger side, below the valve cover, depending if it is an early 2000 or a later 2000 model.
