My drivers side front turn signal bulb keeps burning out. When I replace the bulb I notice on the bad bulb that one of the contacts and the plastic around it is burnt/slightly melted. I am going through bulbs at a rate of one every two days. Same problem each time. Fuse looks okay and is the right # of amps. Could it be the socket or flahser relay?

I'm going to advice to purchase a new socket as it sounds like yours has overheated and possibly melted the contacts points. That would cause more resistance and probably burning out the bulb.

Hope this helps.

It could be a wiring issue. Are you are using the correct bulb?

SOURCE: burnt plastic smell that burns your nose

sounds like it could be electrical then... have you done any changes to the electrical at all? rewiring, changing headlights, etc? I had a similar smell when I changed my headlights... new headlights were defective and were melting the housing and harness...

SOURCE: Drivers side front turn single

Replace the light socket. you can get them at your auto parts store. Get some heat shrink tube at the same time. It seals better than tape on the joints. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: I have a 1999 323i

Hi.

the drive belt tensioner melted the plastic parts in it. The faulty drive belt must be replaced, and the remaining drive belts must be checked. According to factory and to safety standards, the drive belts must be checked every six months. Often the dive belts fitted in the vehicle with drive get checked only when doing the periodic revision. In your case an object stuck in the drive belt tensioner, or the tensioner itself caused the problem. Even if the tensioner is working, for safety reasons it must be replaced.

Here a service manual. Check page 15 in pdf.

Regards.

Ginko.

SOURCE: Left turn signals won't flash, Right side works fine. Replaced front and rear turn bulbs (rear was burned out). Bulbs come on fine on the left side, they just won't flash.

Gday mate, we had a problem with another late model vehicle similar to that, the bulb that was put into the reverse light was not exact brand product ( ohmage was slightly wrong ) and fowled up computer, correct bulb in place and disconnect battery to reset K A M ( keep alive memory) problem solved, BEWARE, some vehicles cannot have KAM reset except for dealer computer tethered reboot , just try putting the factory correct bulb(s) in and see how it goes, geoff. hope this helped.

Turn signal and break light

Make sure all the bulbs are working in the turn signal. Some front turn signals will use two or more bulbs per side. If any one of these bulbs are burned out it will cause the turn signal to flash at a fast rate. It also could be a bad control lighting control switch a.k.a. multi-function switch.

My driver side turn signal on my 2002 accord 3.0 v6 is acting up. It will not work but if I get out of the car and give it a little tap it works for just a second. Not a bulb problem, maybe just a lose...

Looks like you have a faulty socket, remove it and check your contact leads, clean them, or replace socket if necessary, if its a pinch light bulb, socket leads might be worn out causing faulty contact, replace it.
Good luck.

Brake light and blinker on driver side does not work even after replacing bulb

I am assuming that the right (passenger side) turn signal light (blinker) is working fine. This will usually mean that the electronic flasher is not malfunctioning due to the fact that one side still works.

Since the right side brake light is working, I can also assume that the brake light switch is okay.

It is possible that more than one bulb may have been out. The quickest way to test this is to turn on the hazard lights and slowly walk around the vehicle. Make a note of which lights are flashing on one side of the car and compare that to the other side. One bad turn signal bulb (front or rear) is enough to prevent that whole side from blinking. It is also possible that a single bulb is responsible for both turn signal and stoplight. Make certain that the bulb that was replaced was not the back-up bulb. Replace all other bulbs found to be burned out.

And finally, check to see if there is power to the bulb socket. If it is a double-contact socket, there should be power to one of the contacts for "parking lights", while the other contact should be for "brake lights". Make sure the correct bulb was installed.

How to change front driver side turn signal bulb in a 98 Lexus es 300.

This may be right.I got this third hand.. works on later models. Above the area of the turn signal there will be a piece of black plastic that extends from the left side of the front of the car to the right. In this case if its the driver side pull up the plastic tab holding down the plastic strip in front of the battery directly above the headlight and lift it up. This will expose a screw that retains the front signal/driving light housing. Remove screw and carefully slide housing forward. Once out remove bulb and replace. This should only take 5 minutes, works on either side

1998 olds intrigue drivers side signal light keeps burning

It happened to my 98 Intrigue. It stopped as soon as I changed the sockets. It is very simple to do this, just pull it out the the plug from the connector about 4 inches from the socket. I got used ones at the junk yard, 2 bucks a piece. Been working fine for almost 2 years.

2006 pt cruiser on drivers side rear turn signal

The turn signals flash depends on each and every bulb working correctly. When one bulb fails, you will notice a change in the flash frequency, as you describe.

Replace or repair the bulb that is not working, and you should be good to go.
