Hello, the fan in my lexus is rattiling it is a ls 400 1993, a mechanic told me that it is because of my water pump, is this true?

The fuel pump is inside gas tank behind the back seat unscrew the only top that's there and it is inside the gas tank. You will have to remove your back seat to gain access to fuel pump. remove rad. cap start car check if water is moving or check if water is leaking out of weep hole on water pump

water pump is behind the fan pulley bracket. need to take off the timming belt to get to the water pump. also need to remove the distributor covers on bothe sides. 2 boolts that hold the a/c compressor to the fan pulley bracket ,alternator,idler pulley.

replace the thermostat gasket and O -ring first.they dont cost much.if it still leaks its your water pump leaking time to replace.

fan blower motor is under dash on passenger side.

Hello hayeizmyhome...Very low mileage for a 1990 model. However... this is usually around the mileage interval the dreaded instrument cluster, panel and dash light failures start...lights will flicker, then go out, gauges will start going up and down, lcd's will become hazey and hard to read....etc.
The instruments are illuminated both day and night while the ignition is on.
When the ignition is off, the panel goes dark and you can’t see the gauges at all.
The lexus has an electronic circuit board behind the inst. cluster that has been the problem. Very expensive repair if done by dealer.
*TIP* This circuit board can be repaired if you know a good electrical technician much cheaper.
The recommended timing belt replacement interval on the LS is 120k...water pump should be replaced also, the timing belt runs the water pump. The LS has a non-interference engine, meaning if the belt breaks, no damage will be done to the engine...
