1996 Ford Windstar Logo

I have a 96 ford windstar that is overheating. I just recently had some work done like a radiator flush, new thermostat, oil change and new brakes. Never had problem with the van overheating before but now when im driving it more then 20 minutes it overheats. I have heard from one person that he thinks its my head gasket but my van doesn't make any noises and it don't smoke. Do you think I have a blown head gasket or maybe just a bad water pump. O yea when I do overheat there is water and coolant in the radiator and overflow

OVERHEATING 2004 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER

The first thing I would do is flush the cooling system with a quality flush. I would inspect the radiator for leaks and back wash it to remove built up dead bugs/dirt. I would make sure the fan was coming on and operating properly. I would inspect/change the thermostat. I would consider changing the water pump if the above does not work. While you are there change the hoses and serpentine belt.
Don't reuse the antifreeze, replace with new after a complete flush. Use the proper mix/type for your vehicle.

I recently did all of the above on 1995 Ford 4.6L because of overheating and found the parts were oem! The water pump had no fins left on the impeller and the thermostat was partly missing. Very neglected system and the antifreeze looked like sun tea. Yours may not be that bad but you never know.

What to check for ford 2003 mustang overheating

Over heating can be caused by many things. The first question I would have is when did the problem begin? If you or someone recently added coolant, perhaps the wrong type was added. The second question would be when was the last time the coolant system was flushed? Preston sells a product with easy to follow instructions to flush out debris in the system. The third is are there any hose leaks? Low levels of fluid would certainly case over heating. The fourth is to change the oil regularly. Old oil and low oil means more heat. Fifth is to be sure nothing is blocking the radiator. A man just lost as big race over a food wrapper stuck on the radiator!! Car was over heating so he slowed down. Does the over heating happen only when you stop at a light? May be a bad fan sensor. Beyond these items you may have a bad thermostat or worst case a bad water pump.

My 2003 v6 camry recently overheated. Both alternator belt and 2nd belt recently replaced. No evidence of losing coolant. No change in oil appearance. Replaced coolant reservoir and let idle to...

both fans do not turn on at the same time. one fan is for the AC condensor and the other is for the radiator. A/C turns on one fan, Radiator temp switch turns on the other one. If you have never replaced the thermostat, or done a radiator flush/refill, you should do one now.

Overheating they say head gasket changed

If you have white smoke from the tailpipe, coolant in the engine oil, engine oil in the cooling system, that indicates a head gasket failure. However, the most definitive way to test is to have a hydrocarbon test done on the cooling system (checks for exhaust gasses that obviously don't belong in there).
If the system comes up clean, you still can have either a leaking intake gasket, partially obstructed radiator (many times flush will go around obstructions not through them), a malfunctioning electric fan or fan relay, or even an obstruction in front of the a/c condenser or between the condenser and radiator (leaves, plastic bags etc) Don't forget though even if the cause is other than a gasket, if repeatedly or severely overheated the head gaskets can also fail. That is why complete testing is very important.
good luck

Does your electric cooling fan come on when the engine gets around 213-218 degrees.

Bublling in the thermostat housing and very hot upper radiator hose

I recommend flushing the radiator thoroughly if not done recently. there seems to be some sort of blockage in the radiator at this time. if you get lots of metal fragments that are flushed out during this flush, i will then recommend a rebuild on the radiator or replacement of the radiator. make sure the cooling fans are cycling on time as well.

Buick century 96 overheats, and ive done a lot to fix it....?

I had the same problem with my 96 buick century and it was the intake gasket. The 1990's buicks all have the same problem where the gasket fails after about 100,000 miles. The radiator fluid then starts leaking in with the oil. Check your oil and make sure it is not high. If it is high, then the intake gasket is your problem. They make a special replacement gasket now that does not have the same issue. However, I doubt I'm going to keep mine another 100,000 miles so I just put in the stock gasket. Hope this helps.
