2000 Ford Expedition stalls.

Question edited for clarity and typos.
Question moved to model category.

You need the vehicle diagnosed by an auto electrician with a professional scan tool computer. It will monitor all the sensors and especially the MAF and Short Term fuel Trim. It is far more cost effective to pay him for an hour that guessing on parts to replace like the fuel pump and filter.

Expedition 2000 idles rough, stalls, runs rich

Sounds like it is still lean & driven rich by PCM

I assume a repair shop can't resolve the issue !

That seems to be why thousands of people come
to this site & ask questions

I know the MAF is common to both banks, but you diagnose
short & long term fuel trim & perform several tests, before you
replace a MAF Sensor

Bogs down when give it gas

Changing a fuel pump- won't cause that issue

You had other problems before the pump went in

Wasn't the fuel pressure checked at motor with
a gauge or scan tool?

Exhaust Converter could be worn out & partially clogged

Front O2 Sensors never replaced ?

Spark Plugs over 3 years old ?

Dirty MAF Sensor ?

I would check fuel trim on a road test & also
Mode #06 for cylinder misfire count

Could have a bunch of bad COP Ignition Coils
or a week battery

Acts like it is not getting enough fuel when going up hills. have replaced fuel filter but still having trouble. 2000 Ford Expedition 5.4l engine

Fuel is controlled by the O2 Sensors
Where they replaced at 100,000 miles?

Check fuel pressure on engine fuel rail,
with a gauge

Clean MAF Sensor

Check/Test TPS Sensor

1999 ford expedition will not stay started acts like it is not getting any fuel. it runs for a second then dies, 2 or 3 tries then it wont start at all just cranks.

you may need to change the fuel pump, take a piece of wood and wrap the tank a few times, try it,if it runs for a while--its not fixed!!..then replace the pump because it could go all the way out at any time.

Getting a code po171 on a '98 ford expedition...O2 sensor? If so whitch one?

CODE PO171 -SYSTEM ADAPTIVE FUEL TOO LEAN. POSSIBLE CAUSE.AIR LEAKS AFTER THE MAF SENSOR OR LEAKS IN THE PVC SYSTEM. EXHAUST LEAKS BEFORE OR NEAR WHERE THE HO2S IS MOUNTED. FUEL INJECTORS RESTRICTED OR NOT SUPPLYING ENOUGH FUEL. FUEL PUMP WEAK. LEAKING EGR VALVE GASKET OR DIAPHRAGM.MAF SENSOR DIRTY CAUSES PCM TO UNDERESTIMATE AIR FLOW / NOW THE BANK 1 SENSOR ITS MOUNTED IN THE EXHAUST SYSTEM BEFORE THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER.THE BANK 2 SENSOR IS IN EXHAUST AFTER THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER.

1998 Ford Expedition wont stay running

it is probably the MAFS, the MAFS tells the computer how much air is coming in and if it is bad the ECU will not be able to work properly, it is an integral part of the system,

one way to check the MAFS is to unplug it and try to start the vehicle, if the problem is better then replace the MAFS

Edit: also try to clean the MAFS with brake cleaner, sometimes dirt and oil will cause a MAFS to act up, it may be hard to get to the sensor wires but if you take the MAFS all the way off of the vehicle and just spray the unit down well you should be able to clean any larger debris off of the sensor wire
