SOURCE: changing a fuel pump on a 1991 holden barina

The Fuel Pump is Inside the Fuel Tank. You will need to Trop the Fuel tank for this. Not an Easy Job by any Means.

SOURCE: my heater is blowing out cold air in my 2005

I can suggest three things that will normally fix this.

They are:
1. Fluid level
2. Clogged Heater Core
3. Bad Thermostat
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Section 1. Fluid Level
First, check the fluid level in the radiator (not the expansion/overflow tank) when the car is cold.

You will need to remove the radiator cap (push down and turn), as I say, when the car is cold so you don't get burned. If low, start the car with the cap off, turn on the heater and top off the radiator with antifreeze when cold then again after the car gets up to normal operating temperature. The thermostat will normally be open to the heater core at that time. Top off the radiator with the car running (since you have the cap off there will be no pressure build up so this is safe to do).

Recap the radiator making sure it is all the way on (push down and turn) and check your heater.

If no heat, feel the rubber hoses that go into your heater core. These are typically on the firewall and close together. Feel both hoses.

If one is hot and the other is cold, do the steps in section 2. If neither one is hot, skip to section 3.

Section 2. Clogged heater core

With one hose hot and the other cold... you have a clogged heater core (a small "radiator" inside the heater). One way to fix this is to back-flow the heater core. This can be done without removing the heater core with a garden hose. To do this, remember which heater hose is cold.

Remove both hoses that go to the heater core at the firewall, you will then have two metal pipes that come out of the firewall. Take a garden hose and force water into the "cold" water pipe. Sometimes you will need to get another hose that is slightly smaller than the pipe at an auto parts store or, cut the end off the garden hose to get some good water pressure into the heaters core from the garden hose. This will force water in the reverse direction it normally flows and blow out gunk that probably has collected inside it.

If nothing comes out (really clogged), you will need to replace the heater core or take it to a radiator shop to be cleaned and reconditioned.

You may want to flush the whole cooling system as well because that gunk came from somewhere.

Section 3. Bad thermostat

If neither heater hose is hot... you probably have a bad thermostat and this should be replaced. You can normally find this by tracing the top, large main radiator hose to where it connects to the engine block. The thermostat is normally inside where this large hose connects to the block. (make sure to use a new gasket and silicone to seal it).

Good luck and stay warm this winter! -Dan

SOURCE: heater blowing cold air

My 05 sentra with 79k miles heat will warm up and then get cold after a mile of driving, we have tried to get the air pocket out, the mechanic stated he thought it could be a blown head gasket, another mechanic said it was a bad heater core. Any advice would be appreciated.

You need to repair the heater core with a soldering gun.

If you do not have heat, or only have heat, IMHO it is most likey the AC/heater control unit. This is the part which has the AC/heat control buttons and knobs.

Easy Diagnosis:
The easiest way to verify this is to turn on the radio, press and hold the power on/off button and press and hold the scan-up button for a second (full second). The word "A/C TEMP" should appear on the left of the display and a number from 0 to 16 on the right. I suspect yours will have the number 0 (or 16 if heating only problem) displayed no matter where you turn the temperature control knob. If this is the case you could turn the temp. knob to full heat and see if it goes to 16 after pushing down or to the right on the knob.
In a working system, the number moves evenly in increments of 1, from 0 to 16 as you turn the temperature knob.

Easy Fix:
I was able to take mine out and solder 3 loose connections to fix it.

The beginning steps are the same as for any radio removal procedure and check for loose connections.

2009 Holden Barina IAC Valve location?

Try cleaning the Throttle Body before replacing it. You can also clean the IAC. Poor idling is usually the Throttle body not closing properly.

S B holden barina 1997.new aircon parts still not very cold.said to be an issue this model ..said to have two types of T X valvesand dryers .can i get a better outcome

Hi John This is really an open ended question. I don't know if your cold is the same as my cold. You could get a temp thermometer and place it in one of the vents which will give you an indication of how cold it gets at idle and at speed. It may warm up a couple of degrees at speed but should not be too obvious to the feel. Air con temp is very dependent on engine temp you have a 20yr old vehicle if your air con is cold I would say what you have is what you've got. Hope this is of some help .Good luck

check that when you turn on the heater control that it is actually turning on the hot water tap. They are mostly vacuum operated and the little hoses break or rot or become pinched.
