Depends which kind of garage opener you have. But generally, it goes like this:

In car, press and hold 2 outer buttons on overhead console until indicator lights start flashing.

Hold desired button you want to program garage opener with until lights begin to flash rapidly.

At the garage door receiver in the garage, press the "learn" button. (Mine was located under one of the plastic light covers; it is purple in mine, can be other colors, but should say "learn button" or something similar) If I recall correctly, the light next to the learn button started flashing after I pressed it.

Quickly go back to the car, and press and hold the desired button and the garage should close.

That should be it.

Garage door remote

First you have to clear any codes in there.
Hold down the outer 2 buttons until the red light blinks, could take a minute or less.
Then release the buttons, hold your garage door opener close to the button you want to program.
hold down the button on the garage door opener and the programing button until you get a blink from the little red light. That's it
