If you take a test light and test all the fuses in the fuse box and if they are good then when pushing on the horn button you can usually hear the horn relay working(click).if it does then you need to check the horn itself.take a wire and run it from the battery positive cable and connect it to were the horn wire connects to the horn,it should blow(make sure of a good connection),if it does then it could be a dirty connection at the horn.if it doesn`t blow then the horn needs replacing.you can also use the test light and test for power at the horn wire at the horn itself to see if the horn is being feed power from the horn button to the horn.

How do you install a horn button on the dash of a 2002 chevrolet cavalier? From the fuse box or direct from the horn or at the steering wheel ? It is necessary for vehicle inspection in Texas?

To install a horn, Buy a horn button from any auto parts store. mount it under dash in a good place to use it. run a wire from horn connection to proper post on switch, run the other wire to a good power source, battery or fuse box. its the same principle as hooking up a light switch in a house. as long as it cuts the power to horn. it will work. There should already be a ground wire on horn itself. Good-Day!

Horn just quit working.

Do you get a click when you press the button? The relay should be audibly clicking if it's working.
If it is clicking then I'd check the horn itself, might be bad or have loose connection. If no clicking sound at all then I'd suspect bad relay or fuse (if it has a dedicated one), also possibly bad switch.

Horn does not work

THE HORN MAY BE BAD. HORN FAIL FROM AGE & LONG PERIODS OF NON USE. TRY PUTTING BATTERY POWER RIGHT TO THE HORN. IF NO SOUND OR VERY POOR RESPONSE, GET A NEW HORN. IF IT SOUNDS LIKE A HORN, CHECK THE HORN FUSE WITH A TESTER, " THERE SHOULD BE POWER ON BOTH SIDES OF THE FUSE. IF THE FUSE IS GOOD, PULL THE STEERING WHEEL, THERE MAY BE A WORN BRASS CONTACT STICKING UP. PUT A WIRE FROM THAT CONTACT TO SOME METAL UNDER THE DASH, IF THE HORN WORKS YOU WILL HAVE TO WORK ON THAT CONTACT OR MAYBE THE HORN BUTTON ON THE STEERING WHEEL

The horn doesnt work at the steering wheel, but works when the alarm goes off. We have checked the fuses; Is there another relay or fuse box somewhere else besides the relay box under the hood or the fuse...

Check the STEERiNG PAD HORN, the single wire in there might have disconnected and needs to reconnect or the terminal is corroded and oxidize. Checking the terminal wire in the steering wheel, just ground the wire and the horn must goes off! Taah!

I have a 1998 Plymonth Grand Voyager and my horn doesn't work. Any suggestions?

Check your fuse box and see if there is a fuse for the horn. Check it with a continuity tester. If there is no specific fuse for the horn then use the one for the headlights or parking lights.

If all the fuses are good, locate the horn under the hood near the front of the car. Connect cables to the ground of your car and to the ground of your horn, then connect the red cable to the red battery connection and power side of your horn. If the horn makes noise it is good, If not it needs to be replace.

If the horn is good, then it may be wiring or the button on the steering wheel. Follow the wiring and check for continuity using a continuity checker or meter with the battery disconnected. If that is good then it is most likely the button on your steering wheel. It is best to have a tech replace it as the airbag is also in the steering wheel.

Why would the horn not work?

This is usually caused by a defective contact under the steering wheel for the horn button to the harness in the steering column, the contact is called a clock-srping rotoating ribbon contact, this is the most common problem.
