My 1992 BMW 520i makes a loud squealing noise when I put it in reverse or park. It does it at random times and I don't know why?

SOURCE: battery location?

It's under the back seat on passenger side. Give the end of the seat a good upward yank and it will pop up

SOURCE: bmw 520i 1999 abs/asc lights on diagnostic

Check to see if your brake pads and rotors are in good condition. Or if you have replaced the pads yourself and have not reset the wheel sensors this would cause the ABS Antilock Brake System light and the ASC Automatic Stability Control light to stay on as the ASC uses the ABS brakes with computer assistance to control the car

When park on a hill or slope. the transmission makes a loud noise when **** to reverse or drive. but on flat surface it's smooth shifting.

before you return the shifting lever to park on a hilly slope please apply parking brake first then shift the lever to park.now when pulling off shift to drive then remove park brake no loud noise.just my 2 cents

I have a 2005 Chevy Silverado 1500 and it is making an awful noise. It started out as a squealing noise just about a week ago. Then it went to grinding and now it is this very loud breaking sort of noise....

It sounds like its your front brake pads are worn out and you are getting metal on metal from the pad to the rotor . Take a look at the front rotors you don't have to remove the wheel . If you can see groves in the rotors this is what is happening . You could also get your hand in and heel the surface's of the rotors if you can't see to feel for groves but be careful you don't put your fingers in to soon after driving it because it will be vary hot It realy sounds like you need a brake job

I just had my pully belt changed it was making a squeaking noise when i start it up there is no noise but after the car warms up it makes a little squeaking noise not as loud as before but still there and...

Not familiar with bmw, but a squeal like that means that the belt isn't tight enough. Probably didn't get tensioned enough when the new belt was put on.

1992 bmw 318i making a squealing noise on startup when cool. replaced both belts, no effect. Noise disappears when belt going from alternator to the fan clutch is removed. Not sure if it's the bearings in...

You may need bearings in the alternator but i would first try tightening the belt,if that cures the problem you are done.If it does not and a grinding noise starts, then put bearings in the alternator.
