If the bolts are from the blend door assembly, the blend door actuator could easily dislodge and jam. You will need to get in behind the dash and inspect the door actuator function. The actuator is new and shouldn't have failed already, so you might be able to salvage it and regain proper operation.

Heater blows hot on drivers side cold on passenger side

it depends on what model and what options your Journey is equipped with. if it has a dual zone control climate control, it sounds like the blending actuators are not aligning properly or the blend doors are not adjusting to cooperate with the main climate control system. the temp. of the vehicle is controlled by Blend doors in the h/vac system that is thereby controlled by the body control module of the vehicle. the module is a computer that controls all functions within the body of the vehicle. the module should have problem codes that should isolate the area that needs attention.
the body module controls the blend doors in the h/vac system, the doors that open and close in the vents by the heater core that controls the temperature that is ultimately expelled the correct temperature that comes out of the vents. if the settings on both the drivers and passengers control knobs for example are on cold, and one side is hot and one side is cold, then there is a problem at the module level or most likely the blend door is the problem. most likely the actuator ( the motor that runs the blend door and controlled by the module) is not operating properly. your dealer will hook the module up to a diagnostic computer and retrieve the codes ( if any) and isolate which blend door is not working correctly.

usually its just a blend door actuator that needs replacing. to rule out heater core issues, if there is no excessive condensation on the windows and coolant on the carpet, then most like it's a module or blend door issue. if it's a single mode climate control, the same is true but puzzling b/c in that case, both passenger and driver h/vac system is designed to push out a consistent temp for both side without the option of variation on either side. again most likely a blend door issue.

hope this helps

A/C Electronic Blend Door Actuator The A/C electronic blend door actuator is located on the rear of the A/C evaporator housing assembly.
  • Its function is to move the A/C air temperature control door on command from the control assembly.
  • The A/C electronic blend door actuator contains a reversible electric motor and a potentiometer. The potentiometer wiper is connected to the actuator output shaft and moves with the output shaft to indicate the position of the A/C air temperature control door.
  • A 5 volt signal is applied to the ends of the potentiometer. The voltage available at the wiper indicates the position of the potentiometer. The expressed value of the actuator wiper voltage is sent to the control module and is matched with the wiper voltage of the module potentiometer. The printed circuit board then drives the actuator motor in whichever direction is necessary to make the actuator wiper voltage agree with the control module wiper voltage.
A/C Electronic Blend Door Actuator
Removal
  1. Disengage two push pins retaining instrument panel insulator to instrument panel. Disconnect courtesy lamp from instrument panel insulator.
    1. Remove floor console. Refer to Section 01-12 .
    1. Working from under instrument panel, remove two retaining screws and metal cover from A/C evaporator housing.
    1. Remove A/C electronic blend door actuator electrical connector.
    1. Remove three remaining retaining screws from A/C electronic blend door actuator.
    1. Pull the A/C electronic blend door actuator away from the A/C evaporator housing for a distance of approximately 25 mm (1 inch) to disengage it from the A/C air temperature control door.

Heating system only blows out hot air through the vents

I would look at the air blend doors first, it sound like they are not working or your control in the dash is not working send a signal to them. they work by changing the air from hot to cold or in between.
