Hi,

NOTE: In order to perform a meaningful diagnosis, it is necessary to utilize either a code scanner or code reader. A test light, ohmmeter, digital voltmeter, vacuum gauge and jumper wires may be required. You do not need any of the aforementioned items to inspect vacuum hoses, wiring, or disconnected plugs or adapters.

There is no such thing as one fix fixes all. Be forewarned that some repairs require ripping things apart and extensive testing, repairing or replacing items, This possibilities require a modicum of skill, patience and more. It's always best to take your vehicle to your service center.

Before undertaking any repair or diagnostic work, be sure to inspect wiring for proper connection, burned or worn/chafed spots, and cuts. The connectors to the EGV tend to corrode and the wiring breaks because of the heat.

Be sure to check hoses that are hard to see beneath the air cleaner, compressor, alternator, etc.

THE MOST IMPORTANT NOTE: Scan the system again after the vehicle is running. The reason is that non-related codes can be detected after the engine is running because sometimes false codes can be triggered by the engine not running. Once the engine is running again the code present might cycle and turn itself off. You might say "if the engine doesn't run shouldn't it have a trouble code?" Sometimes conditions occur that will not be detected by the computer. For example: if the fuel pump fails the computer cannot detect the failure, so the engine doesn't start and the computer thinks everything is okay with no codes. If no trouble codes are present proceed to the next step.

If you have trouble using the code scanner or interpreting the codes click on the following link and use my access code (carrepair): Free Automotive Repair information for Users of a Code Scanner

All the best

Ben

What is fault code po403 on my grand cherokee

Code 403 is a problem with the EGR valve.
You'll need to get the flow chart to run the tests for that code to find the problem. I would suggest a shop manual.

Check engine Code 403 for 2000 Caravan

Did you reset the system and the light still comes on? If so you have a possible wiring problem or a plugged EGR passage maybe. You need a scanner to check these things so if you don't have that you are stuck here and need the dealer or a good shop with correct kit to look into this.

Diag codes for trouble shooting po141,po404,po440

Code 141 is the O2 (oxygen sensor) gone bad, needs replacing.
Code 440, 442 and 445 are all in the EES (Evaporative Emission System). They are leaks in the PCM (Powertrain Control Module). It tests this system when there is about one fourth tank of gas left.
This system controls fumes from the fuel by storing it in a vapor canister until they can be burned off. This system has several parts in it. You have the solenoid (which is a vent valve and a purge valve), fuel tank, a vapor canister, and you have lines coming from engine vacuum port, going to the vent valve. But you may want to check your gas cap. This is the culprit most of the time. As we take it off and on, it can cause leaks. This is also the cheapest solution. You'll have to clear your code with an OBD scan tool, to see if it was repaired by replacing your gas cap.
Also older vehicles can have a leak around the fuel filler neck where the gas cap attaches to is a seal and it could have gone bad.
A lot of times that seal is leaking around that filler neck. So more likely than not, it is leaking and/or gas cap needs replacing.
A 403, 404,405 are in the EGR System.
401 and 402 are the EGR valve.
You will get these codes because the PCM has sent them. It will send them to test the system as part of a self-diagnostic test and the other reason it sends it is because it wants to monitor the EGR system through everyday, normal operations.
This is what is known as PCM command. It is looking for correct signal of the wires to make sure they are working right from the solenoids in the EGR valve.
There is a problem in the EGR system that needs fixing. Sometimes replacing the EGR valve will fix the problem, but before you go out buying a lot of parts for your car, have a mechanic shop test the EGR system.
Good luck.

How to clean a egr valve from a 2000 mitsubishi montero. I replace the egr valve, but still engine ligth code 403 still on.

Your new EGR valve (assuming it wasn't defective out of the box), is fine, but the car's computer just needs to have its code 403 cleared. Even though you've corrected the problem, the computer will still light the "Check Engine" light, and store code 403 until the code is cleared using an OBD-II (On-Board Diagnostics 2) code scanner.
Note that the car will function perfectly with its new EGR valve, a lit "Check Engine" light and a code 403 stored. Its just a good idea to clear the code, so that then only NEW problems will become the reason that the "Check Engine" light gets lit.

I have a 1998 dodge stratus and the code 403 egr flow cicuit malfunction comes up how can i fix this problem so i can pass inspection

Check all vacuum lines to the EGR valve, the EGR valve is between the intake and the exhaust, EGR stands for Exhaust Gas Recirulator valve. It must be able to flow properly in order to pass emissions anyway if they do a smog test.
