I have a 1996 F150 that has been stalling on and off for over 2 years. It will stall for a few weeks then be fine for months. It has dual tanks and will do it on either. The fuel filter, TPS sensor, plugs, plug wires, battery, cap and roter have all been replaced. Even an authorised ford dealership mechanic could not figure it out. It's been to 4 repair shops and all said they dont know. The gas tanks seem to build up pressure, a little gas will push out the caps. I've spent $1500 on this problem. clean the MAF sensor first and also add some Chevron Techron fuel injector cleaner to 1/4 tank of gas. You may have a dirty MAF or a partially plugged injector.
these fuel cleanears don't work well they usually end up making more trouble you just need to burn all the gas the engine has or at least have way and then add new fresher gas it will clean the lines
ignition switch, hard to replace yourself. it is okay to use for a while though. ive had my ford doing that for three yrs now with no ignition problems.(yet)
