PLEASE HELP!! I think my engine is broken?? STALLED AWFULL!? OK...to make it short: I was driving in traffic..2002 altima manual tranny...cars moving at 3mph...so I wasnt holding any brakes...just the clutch-gas-clutch-gas play so that the car wouldnt have to put in neutral and apply the brakes.. suddenly..in the middle of all that...in 1st gear...the engine started to STALL for 5minutes!! Ive never seen a car stall that long!! I got nervous and neutral the car..then..turned the ignition key ON while the car was running! Starter made a grinding noise...Did this 4 times!! I thought the engine had stalled... Later...I realized the engine was idling..and turned off the engine and back ON...and drove to my house... I was worried...and a couple hours later, tried to start the engine ON..it started just fine...did this 5 times..and everything looked fine..went to bed later the next morning...while I was driving...1st...2nd gear...3rd gear...noticed the engine lacked POWER!! poor acceleration!! I had to push MORE the gas pedal in order to obtain the acceleration I was used to!! What happend? The car starts well...no problems...the rpm while idle are 700... The only thing is the poor acceleration...now I have to press MORE the gas pedal!! Could something have broken while the engine was STALLING FOR 5 seconds!! It made an awfull sound...like if the engine wanted to break loose the hood and fly away from the car!! Sorry for the long "short version"... This symptom of poor acceleration started AFTER the stalling incident :s PLEASE HELP!!! the engine did not REALLY stalled...but is was CLOSE to stall...made all that hug noise and bumping on the engine bay reasons i think what might be the issue: a. fuel pressure bad..something got loose? b. a sparkplug gone bad? c. broken intake or exhaust manifold? d. a sensor broke? e. need to do a compression check? blown gasket? f. fuel pump faulty?

Just chill out

Forget the car

Drop it off at a repair shop

Don't authorize any work

Just have it checked out

Then go there, when they have something
that may need to be worked on.

How many quarts of transmission fluid in what type go into a 2002 Nissan Altima for a full tranny rebuild

Use Nissan Altima Automatic Transmission Fluid and it should hold about 10 quarts total. I would fill with 9 quarts and start the engine and circulate the fluid. Check the fluid level and add what you need.

Clutch cable geo tracker

don't want to shift? fills a huge basket ,
1: grinds?
2: can't get in to some gears.? or all gears.? (engine running and not)?
3: clutch drags, clutch slips kills all gears, or just 5th.
drag kills them all and reverse 1st , its the canary gear. !! non synchro
4: noise.? or chatter, ****,larchig, or throwout hash ,?

here is the clutch page, link below.

the #1 failure for a gear not Selecting is a $5 fix.
the tip of the shifter shaft, plastic POS is broken, bar none this failure,#1 and sold only at SUZ, get em' while you can they are chapter 11 ANDGM/GEO is brain dead , ask them , and you get blank stares.

this can be proven, by selecting the gears by hand. running.
if failure, cant move those fork rods?
running? only
if you cant, the clutch is dragging. see why?
works stalled means the clutch drags.
can you shift to 1st stalled, start engine drive off can you get any gear? yes,if yes , constantly? with no grinding, the clutch is ok.

to do that manual shifter off test test the shifter must be removed.

the we get to the cable.
see the 1inch rule here, no guessing.
play set to spec, and you floor the pedal , person 2 sees 1 inch travel, (END new cable worry)
if it moves 1inch and the tranny can not be SELECTED.
the clutch is bad, if you can select only stalled motor.
if selection fails all time, stalled and running, the tranny is siezed.
covers every fail logged by 1000s of users

I have check engine diagnostic code c1000e on Nissan Altima 2002. what does the code mean? The vehicle drives and reverses but stuck on D4. The check engine light is on and the OBD2 test shows code c1000...

hi, C1000- Engine; CAN Communication Circuit.

That and maybe water got into a connector. Maybe the AWD connector. Be sure to read the LAN System section in the SM. and the TF transfer section. Sounds like the CAN line going to the AWD clutch got shorted or opened. Problem is the full diagnostics need the Consult 4. I think may be it can help you.

2002 altima idling too high check engine light on

The first and easiest thing you should do or have someone do, is check under the hood for a vacuum leak, possibly coming from a cracked or broken hose. Check and inspect all rubber hoses, including the large ribbed hose running to the throttle body (Engine air intake from the air filter box). You can hear a leak if it is loud enough and will sound like a hiss. Your engine is idling high because of a vacuum leak.

2003 altima

There is a dealer recall on the crank position sensor. The dealer will either replace it for free or reprogram the On Board computer. (It overheats because of where it's placed on the engine) My car was re-programmed but the sensor eventually failed and the car stalled in traffic.
Suggest you purchase an OBD 2 code reader. Or you can check one out from Auto Zone parts stores. You plug it in under the dash right below the steering wheel. A booklet will tell you what the error code means. I can't tell you how many stranded motorists I've plugged it into their vehicle (post 1997) and told them what the problem was.

Transmission skittering, whirring, buzzing noises

Hi. I think you have a low tranny fluid level. If you never changed it, now would be great time to do so.
