Hi Mandy, If you look down by the side of the hand brake lever you will see a bolt with nuts on either side of it. These are attached to the hand brake cables and each has a locking nut. Loosen those two first and then tighten the lower nuts until the action of the hand brake is fully engaged with six clicks of the hand brake ratchet. (you will hear it click as the hand brake is engaged) Both side should be adjusted together, meaning that, the amount you tighten one side should be repeated on the other, (when tightening whatever degrees one side, repeat on the other side). If you find the adjustment is still too loose to hold the vehicle, you may like to check the wear of the brake shoes on the rear wheels! Regards Johngee10

Hand brake cable comes all the way to the rear and the linkages can be adjusted on either side.

SOURCE: I have a toyota camry

Hello Greg
There is an adjustment at the base of the brake lever, you'll need to remove the top console panel and the air duct to get to it. But before you do, make sure the brakes are properly adjusted.
More often than not a brake adjustment will cure the extra freeplay in the E brake lever. Hope this is

SOURCE: my handbrake needs adjusting in my Toyota Corolla

Hello, My usual Brands are Ford products, but Foreign cars usually use simple, less expensive ways to do things. Assuming the brake pads are good, there should be a cable connected to the handbrake. You would usually pull the handbrake up to engage about 1/4 the way to engagement and lock it there.
Then you would go underneath the car and find the cable that stretches from the handbrake lever to a juction with a second cable. There should be an adjusting thread somewhere at this intersection.

With the rear wheels off the ground, you would tighten the nut on the threads of the handbrake cable until you hear rubbing in the rear brakes. Then get inside the car and pull back on the handbrake lever and you should not be able to move the rear wheels with the handbrake set. You then release the handbrake 100% and the rear wheels should turn mostly without noise.

Now if you can not find an adjustment nut under the car, it is possible the handbrake adjustment nut is under the handbrake cover/boot inside the car. Still use the same process of setting the lever 1/4 engaged and tightening the threaded cable until the rear wheels start dragging.

I hope this helps you.

Hand brakes

The light is blinking because the brake fluid in the master cylinder reservioir is low. Add an ounce of fluid and the light will go out.

The rear brakes also are in need of adjustment.

This should help you out.
A FixYa rating would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

1994 Toyota Camry automatic. All forward no reverse

are you sure it is first gear it is making when in 1. In park does the car lock up if you try to push it with the handbrake off. If not your problem is adjustment of the cable i.e. although the lever is in reverse the gearbox isn't.

Handbrake Adjustment

On the Toyota, you can do it two ways: The easiest is to push in on the release button on the lever and move the lever up and down twenty or thirty times while the vehicle is slowly moving forward. A long driveway or parking lot is best for this. Or, there is an adjusting nut at the end of the park brake cable under the handle. If you pull the handle up, you should be able to see it down inside the center console on the bottom side of the handle. Turn the nut clockwise a turn or two.

The daewoo is anyone's guess. I've never even seen one.
