SOURCE: gmc Envoy with erratic fuel gauge.

I have found that just about 100% of the time this condition is caused by a defective fuel gauge sending unit in the gas tank.

SOURCE: 2003 GMC Yukon - fuel pump

Check your ECM fuse. There should be 2 fuses for your ECM. It's the ECM that controls the function of the fuel pump. Good luck friend and it's also common for the wire harness from the frame to the fuel pump to go bad due to corrosion from the bad weather we get in the winter and rainy spring and fall.

SOURCE: 2002 Chevy Silverado 3500 Fuel gauge reads 1/2

If this was not a problem before the pump replacement then the sender in the tank may of faied or is contaminated with sulfer which is corrosive to the silver electrical contacts.

Do a search on sulfur corrosion and fuel sender units. Gm has big problem with this. Its possable the stress from removing the old and installing the new pump created an issue with contacts. If this is the case you will now need a sender unit.

What causes power loss in a 1990 gmc 3500 Sierra 350 engine when start and going up hills

When was the last time you changed the fuel filter or air filter...common causes are air filter, or blocked air intake, dirty carb, bad plug, wires, distributer, distributer button, fuel filter, water in gas, old gas, plugged exhaust pipe and last but not least and believe it or not too much dirt under the gas peddle.... and in one case passing cable fell off the carb.

Where is the fuel filter located and how do i change it on a 1997 gmc siera 3500 diesel

Not real familiar with this model of truck...but I'd find your injector lines that take you to the fuel pump. (fuel pump should be driven by a belt)
Then from the fuel pump, I'd follow the fuel line on back to the fuel filter.
Should be a rather large cannister mounted near the firewall.

Hope this is helpful...

Where is the fuel filter canister located on this 2006 GMC sierra 1500

The fuel filter on this vehicle is located inside the fuel tank and is a part of the fuel pump module. As such, it can only be serviced by replacing the pump module assembly. In theory, these are a lifetime filter and I've only seen a couple of them plug so far and those were due to dirty fuel that came out of a private service tank. The only real test to see if the filter is restricted is to have someone road test the vehicle with a fuel pressure test gauge hooked up to the fuel rail so the actual pressure can be observed while the vehicle is under load. Hope this helps out!

Airlocked

Hello, I see that you are having a fuel problem on your 99 Sierra. It sounds as if the fuel pump screen has a restiction on the screen causing it not to be able to pull fresh fuel. Instead it is running out of fuel inside the fuel pump module and it will then start sucking in air. Since you will have to remove the fuel pump module if it has 100-150,000 miles on the fuel pump module you may want to just replace it, because that is about the average life span under normal conditions.
