Honda Jazz 2014 how to replace tailgate lock

Replacing the tailgate lock on a Honda Jazz 2014 involves several steps. Here's a general outline of the process:
  1. Open the tailgate: Begin by opening the tailgate and locating the lock mechanism.
  2. Remove the trim panel: You will need to remove the trim panel that covers the tailgate lock mechanism. This may require the use of a trim tool or a screwdriver, depending on the exact model of your Honda Jazz.
  3. Disconnect the electrical connections: After removing the trim panel, you will need to disconnect any electrical connections that are attached to the lock mechanism. This will likely involve disconnecting the wires from the tailgate lock switch.
  4. Remove the old lock mechanism: Next, you will need to remove the old lock mechanism. This may require the use of a socket wrench or pliers, depending on the type of mechanism that is installed.
  5. Install the new lock mechanism: Once the old lock mechanism has been removed, you can install the new one. Make sure that the mechanism is securely fastened and that all electrical connections are properly reattached.
  6. Reinstall the trim panel: Finally, reinstall the trim panel that covers the lock mechanism.
It is important to note that this process can vary depending on the exact model of your Honda Jazz, so it is always a good idea to consult your owner's manual or a professional mechanic for specific instructions and guidance. Additionally, it is recommended that you wear protective gloves and safety glasses when working on the tailgate lock to avoid injury.

Replace the right licence plate bulb 2006 Nissan Quest

This, to be honest, is a bigger job than it should be. On the Quest you need to start inside the trunk.
You will need to unscrew the screws on the inside tailgate handle and remove it. Then gently lever around the edges to remove the entire cover panel from the tailgate. This will give you access to the screws (or bolts) holding the narrow outside trim panel that the light is fitted inside. Remove this trim, unscrew the small lens cover for the number plate lights and replace the bulbs.
**Don't Forget to check the bulbs work before you refit the removed trim panels.**
Clean the inside of the lens while it is off to keep the light as bright as possible.
Refit the narrow outside trim. Refit the inside trim panel, pushing the edge clips until they 'click' into place. Refit the inside handle. Close the tailgate and recheck the lights work.

My tailgate will not stay up on my 2002 v70 wagon. Can you help?

You need new tailgate struts. Most auto parts stores sell them. Just stick a broom stick under the tailgate and remove the ceiling panel and unsnap the old ones and snap the new ones in. Make sure to install them exactly the way they were before you started.

The rear latch does not open easy and doesn;t stay up. Whats wrong?

There should be two hydraulic struts - one on either side of the hatch/tailgate. If these struts have failed, the hatch/talgate will not stay open. Also, since these struts are compressed when the hatch/tailgate is closed, they provide positive lifting pressure when you unlock the hatch, pushing it away slightly from the latching mechanism. Replace the struts, and you should be all set.

My tailgate will not stay up

Replace the rear lift struts on the tailgate (if this is an SUV).

If it's a truck, the latching mechanism may need adjusting, or replacement.

Tail gate on GMC 2002 Sierra stuck closed. Appears to be that right side will not release.

You'll have to get the trim piece that goes around the latch off. It just snaps off. If you push up on the bottom while you're pulling out on it the retainers should disengage. Push down on the top while pulling out should allow you to remove it. If you look in the tailgate under the latch you should see two rods one going left and one going right. They are held on the latch with plastic clips. The clip for the right rod is probably broke and the rod disconnected. Assuming that is the case you can lift up on the latch to release the left side while reaching a finger in under the latch to push the right rod left. This should allow you to open the tailgate. Once it's open you can remove three bolts on the inside of the tailgate and diconnect the left rod allowing you to remove the latch. I was told by a GM parts guy that those clips are only available with the complete latch. I found one at a parts store (Carquest) that I could make work. The GM dealer had a similar clip but I couldn't make it work plus the clip was over $5 wholesale. Hopefully that will work for you.

I can not get my tailgate to unlatch and open. what do i need to do to get it to open?

i had the same problem with my 2002 1500, the problem lies with a clip or both clips being broke under the tail gate latch that you pull on to open it. you can check this by getting a flash light and look up under the latch as you have it pulled up, you will then see if you have a broken clip. chevy dealer has these. to replace the clips you have to remove the square plastic piece around your latch handle, this square piece has 4 plastic tabs 2 on the upper piece of the square in the corners and the low portion of the square has 2 in the corners also, get 2 putty knives and slide one under the bottom half of the square plastic piece 3 quarters of an inch from the corner, then slide another putty knife under the very corner, note cover this knife with tape as it will scratch your paint if not careful. you will hit a plastic tab shove in carefully to disengage the tab, do this on the other side, then you can remove bottom half of plastic trim, then proceed to do the same step on the top of the plastic trim, once this is done then take it off carefully these plastic tabs are fragile! then proceed to look in the area to see which clip is to be replaced, use needle nose pliers to install new clip, just put clip on shaft that has dropped down, this would be the one that has the broke clip. then after installing new clip try your tailgate if it opens, if it does all is well. install your square plastic piece top first, then the bottom until it snaps into place.

How do you replace tailgate struts on a gmc 2006 envoy xl

There should just be metal clips on each end. Use a thin/standard screwdriver and pry out on the clips. They won't come off completey, but just pop out a little ways. Once they do, just pull and wiggle the strut and it should pop off the ball it's snapped on to. To install the new ones, just make sure the new clips are in the "out" position, snap the socket on to the ball and push in on the clip to secure it in place. Hope this helps.

I need to remove 2004 toyota sequoia tailgate door panel to get access the rear tail light to install a backup camera. I don't see any obvious removal points.

Slide the plastic cover off the tailgate ******** the passenger side to reveal a 10mm bolt.

Remove the bolt and the strap/

Using a flat prying instrument, remove the center trim section one the inside of the tailgate above the window.

Grab the top edges of the side trim sections on the inside of the tailgate and pull down to remove.

Using a flat instrument, pry at the bottom edge of the tailgate main trim panel, it is held on with about 12 plastic pop-in fasteners so it will take several 'pops' before it is released.

Behind that there is a metal access cover the width of the tailgate, held on by ~5x pop in fasteners and ~10x 10 mm bolts. Remove the bolts and pop the panel loose, it will hang by the wiring so support it while you do your camera work :)

The license plate trim panel, should you need to remove it, requires remoaval of the license plate.

Then remove ~3x 10mm bolts from the top of the panel, accessed from the inside.

Using long needle nose pliers compress the pop-fasteners holding the lower corners of the license plate trim panel on, being careful not to let it drop and slide down the vehicle, scratching the paint :)
