The key lock cylinder operates the ignition switch sometimes ignition switch is separate sorry I didn't find where ignition switch is located if the lock cylinder is plugged into it.
You should have a starter relay and starter relay fuse.
This diagram of starter circuit shows the clutch pedal switch in the circuit on an automatic should have the neutral safety switch in the circuit. This is for 95 Rodeo. Stater Motor Circuit Diagram (1995-1997 2.6L Isuzu Rodeo) (easyautodiagnostics.com)
disconnect the battery and hop below the vehicle you will be able to see it bolted on to the bell housing. remove the main power wire then the other smaller wire to the solenoid . then remove and replace the starter in the reverse process all should be good
Check to see if you are using the proper fuse. If so, disconnect the starter solenoid and then try to start the vehicle. If the fuse does not blow, the starter solenoid (entire starter, actually) should be replaced.
Below are some instructions for you. Yes the pipe has to be removed in order to get the strarter out once it has been unbolted from the engine/transmission. Looks like it's possible to do it without removing the pipe but believe me I have tries and it just wont come out unless you do remove the pipe. Hope this helps and don't forget to disconnect the ground wire on the battery before you start the job. Installation is in reverse order as taking it off.
1. Detach the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. 2. Raise the vehicle and support it securely on jack stands. 3. If you can reach them, disconnect the battery cable and solenoid connector from the starter motor solenoid. On some engines the terminals are difficult to reach while the starter is installed; it's actually easier to unbolt the starter, pull it out to point where you can reach and disconnect the cables. 4. Remove the starter motor bolts and detach the starter from the engine. Having socket swivels and extensions, along with angled wrenches, will make this job easier. Depending upon the year and engine type, the starter may be mounted above the transmission or below the intake manifold. On some models it may be necessary to remove the exhaust system to make room for the starter assembly to pass between the engine and chassis. Make sure the engine and exhaust system are cool before starting. I found that once you get the cables off, you have a better chance to remove the starter motor without removing the exhaust system. If you have to mess with the exhaust system, just loosen enough to allow clearance. 5. Install in the reverse order. If it was necessary to remove the starter to disconnect the cables, remember to maneuver the replacement starter in place, ensuring that you have the necessary access/clearance through the exhaust system, and reconnect the cables prior to bolting the starter in place. 6. Be patient. With the right tools and a little luck this shouldn't take more than an hour once you have the vehicle on jack stands and the engine has cool. It
