As for the viscosity of oil to use, most new engines today require a multiviscosity 5W-30 oil for all-round driving. The lighter 5W-30 oils contain friction reducing additives that help improve fuel economy, and also allow the oil to quickly reach critical upper valvetrain components when a cold engine is first started. Most engine wear occurs immediately after a cold start, good- day!!

I have a 2004 dodge stratus and I'm trying to find

Technically, the starter is grounded to the engine block. There may be a ground strap that goes from the block to the body, but usually the battery ground cable goes to the block.

2004 Dodge Stratus stalling

Be certain your cooling fan is coming on when the engine starts to get warm. If it is, then the most likely thing is the thermostat is sticking (either not working or only opening partially). Just follow the big hose from the radiator that goes to the top of the engine. It connects to the thermostat. They are cheap and easy to replace -- so, if it was me, I'd just go ahead and replace it. If it doesn't fix the problem, at least it rules out a big contender and there is value in that.

Hello, just wanted to know when do my 2004 dodge stratus need a tune up, it has 71500 miles on it now. Also what other maintenance should I look to get for a car to keep it running and healthly, no...

Well, you didn't mention which engine your Sratus is equipped with, so I can't give you any specifics on your engine.
The best thing you can do is change the oil, and when you are done changing the oil, change it again. When you are done changing it again, start over. :) I cannot count all of the engines that I have seen go to an early grave because the oil was not changed regularly. I have customers that regularly go 1000, 2000, or more miles over on their oil changes, then cry the blues when the engine blows up.

If your engine is equipped with a 2.4L engine, you need to make sure the timing belt and related components are replaced when they should be. The service interval is 90,000 miles.
Don't skimp and replace just the belt. Spend the extra money and do it right! The pullies and the water pump that the belt rides on also have the same mileage as the belt and will fail and cause the belt to fail before it would be due again. I have seen several people pay their hard-earned cash to replace the belt only, just to have the tensioner pulley or the water pump fail 10,000 miles later and destroy the new belt and cause severe engine damage.

If you have the 2.7 engine, this is not an issue because it is a chain-driven engine.

For more information on the maintenance of your vehicle, it would be best to read your Owner's Manual.

I have a 2002 Dodge Stratus, When I come to a stop, the oil tight comes on but, when I take my foot off the breaks and asccelerate ( or put any gas to it) the light goes out. PLEASE HELP!

You are developing low oil pressure at idle this is a common problem with Dodge stratus. If you fail to have it fix you will definetly loose the timing chain and the whole enginecansmo_198.gif

What kind of oil does it use?

Your dodge should use a 5w-30sae oil.I prefer to use a semi synthetic oil it mixes with conventional oil and provides better break down resistance.
