Remove the starter motor and check for damage/wear on the teeth of the starter motor and the ring gear teeth on the flywheel.turn the engine by hand while checking the ring gear so as to check the condition all the way around.hope this helps

It is an intermittent problem with the Hyundai Elantra. So, in order to solve your car problem, here I have mentioned to few links which will tell what test or steps you should take to diagnoses you issues,
=> Elantra will not start
=> Hyundai Elantra GL Occasionally my car won start Help
If you still confuse to rectify your problem, then take a look at this video which will tell you about the 2013 Hyundai Elantra Starting Problems,
Sometimes starters come from the factory with shims to make sure there is correct clearance between the starter drive gear and the flywheel, have the person who installed check to see if there was a shim or shims on the old one and wether they put on shims on the new one.
CV joint. Take/Tow your vehicle to an authorized Hyundai dealership and pay the diagnostic fee... they will tell you exactly what the problem is and the cost of parts/labor to fix it... at least this way you'll know what the problem is and what's required to fix it.
The problem you describe has many possible causes. Any number of engine management sensors (which are starting to go bad) can cause this problem, the fuel pump is starting to go bad, the engine computer, wiring, connectors, etc.. the list goes on and on. My experience tells me to tell you to take the vehicle into a Hyundai Service Center and try to get it diagnosed. If successful, they'll give you an estimate of repairs (parts, labor, tax, time-frame, etc.). This way you'll know exactly what's wrong and what's required to fix it. Now, since the problem is 'INTERMITTENT', that makes it tough for the technician unless he/she can discover any DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) stored in the computer (ECM - Engine Control Module) - Did the 'Check Engine" light ever come ON? If so, this will help narrow the search and diagnosis.
sounds like your CV joints are worn out. If the clicking noise gets worse when turning then its a definite possibility. Also check the CV joint boots for splits as this can quickly wear them out. The dust mixes with the grease to form a grinding paste.
