SOURCE: 1997 chevy blazer key stuck in ignition AGAIN GRRRRRRR

I have worked on several vehicles with this same problem and each one was a relatively simple repair with no parts involved, first off the shift interlock has nothing to do with it and will not prevent your vehicle from going into park, it is designed to work ONLY when coming out of park. The problem your having depends on the type of shifter handle your vehicle has, if the release lever is on the bottom and you have to push up with your fingers to release it, then the problem is...there is a rubber type cover that surrounds the release button, after time it becomes distorted and bunches up preventing the shifter from fully engaging in the park position (even though it appears the vehicle is going into park)if your careful you can work the rubber cover out and your problem is fixed. If your shifter button is on the side and pressed with your thumb the cable needs to be adjusted, this cables only purpose is to prevent key removal except when in park and is easily adjusted, with the center council removed, if you look at the front of the shifter base you will see 2 cables that snap into the shifter frame, the larger one is the gear selector cable, the smaller one runs up to the steering column and operates the mechanism that prevents key removal, where the cable snaps into the shifter frame is where the adjustment is done and is identical to a kick-down cable used on older vehicles with automatic transmissions, right where it snaps into the frame there will be a button you can press down releasing a spring loaded adjustment arm, make sure you first mark the arm for reference then press down the button and adjust it a little either way until it functions properly, hope this helps and good luck

SOURCE: What is the ignition timing for a 95 Chevy pick up

The timing is to be set at zero TDC.The connector is on the passengers side under the hood against the fire wall. There might be a plastic cover over it.It is a tan wire with a black stripe.Sometimes it will be in the passengers side under the dash.by the blower motor.Same colors on the wire. The check engine light will come on when the connector is unplugged but it will go off after it is plugged back in and the key is cycled on then back on or start.Hope this helps.Good luck.

1998 chevy Z71 pick up, wont start. Ive already dropped tank, and checked fuel pump. It works, not getting fuel???

Pump needs to be checked for pressure and VOLUME of flow. It may move fuel but not enough of it.

1996 1500 chevy Z71 ,350 engine. Everything works electronic except when you turn key on it won't crank

First try getting a boost. It could be just a low battery. The starter takes much more power than everything else together. If you have already tried that, or it doesn't help, try shorting out the starter with a screwdriver. If it works , your ignition switch could be faulty, or the neutral switch for the shiter.

Hi & good evening, I have a 2000 chevy silverado Z71 with the 5.3 motor. When I try to start the motor in the morning, the dash lights up but the starter or the solenoid don't engage at all. If I keep...

I would agree with you on the ignition switch. When it doesn't want to start, check the small wire on the solenoid to see if you are getting power from the ignition switch when it's turned to the start position. If not, I'd say it's the ignition switch. If not, could be a bad solenoid.

95 chevy camaro with pass key will not start. Replaced key and it started. Later it did not start. What's going on? What are some things to try?

If it's the same as the VATS system in my 86 Corvette (resistor pellet in key) the ignition switch might need to be replaced. The contacts on the key wore low, replacing the key helped for a short time but the new contacts wore the switch down faster then it too needed to be replaced. $200!
